Gore Booth Esq, 1864`, makers Daniel Houle and Charles Houle, London 1864, 17.5oz approx, 13cm high. A paper hunt is a cross between hunting and point-to-point racing. After following the trail of coloured paper to a check point about 2 miles from the home mark, it becomes a race to the finish. The winner has the privilege of laying the paper for the next weeks hunt and wearing a pink coat and top hat. The Shanghai Paper Hunt Club came about due to the British missing the `thrill of the chase` but as Shanghai lacked any suitable animal to hunt this was deemed the next best thing
