Remarkable Autograph Letter Signed 'Albert' as Duke of York, Glamis Castle, 27 September 1922 , in which he describes the British as 'the Chosen Race', states that the country has been drifting for too long, and expresses the opinions that 'prayer does not seem one of our strong points & clergy don't fill one with much enthusiasm' and that if the bishops put their own affairs on 'an efficient & business like basis' there would not be so many religious sects; the letter also covers hunting, tackle and horses, 'The Election if there is one won't help, as the sale will have to be postponed..', 6 pages [of 8?, the lack of syntax running from the top of page 2 to the top of page 3 appears to indicate missing text], slight stain and two minor tears to first leaf, small 4to 'This country has been drifting too long in the wrong direction, but now with strong Govt it is not too late to stop it, But I feel that we have got to go to greater depths still before people really realise that we have got our backs to the wall again as in 1918, I am sure the British Israelite business is true, I have read a lot about it lately & everything no matter how large or small points to our being 'the Chosen Race..'
