[Hunting and coaching interest] A George III engraved horn beaker, finely engraved with a titled scene of ‘A View Of The Crown Inn Swaffham’ with a hunt meet before, an oval reserve ‘Frances Sadler Ostler at the Crown Inn Swaffham Sept. 16- 1789’ and a circular vignette titled ‘Yarmouth Coach’, signed ‘N. Spilman Sculp’, 9.2cm (35/8in) high, with a later detached silver collar by Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham 1885. The National Maritime Museum has an example by the same hand, Nathaniel Spilman of Great Yarmouth, commemorating the battle of Trafalgar dated 21st September 1811 (OBJ0434). An example with Admiral Duncan’s victory of 1797 sold by Lawrence’s, Crewkerne, 31st January 2003, lot 690. A further example with a prospect of Mr S Allen’s bath house and assembly room, Great Yarmouth, dated 1788 sold by Brunk Auctions, Winston Salem, USA, 29th March 2010, lot 60.
