Ca. 3rd millennium BC.A biconical pottery vessel featuring a broad, tapered base and a sloped shoulder with an everted rim. The exterior is adorned with polychrome decoration, depicting a dynamic hunting scene with animals. The Indus Valley Civilization, one of the world's oldest urban cultures, thrived in the northwestern regions of the Indian subcontinent around 3300–1300 BC. DOGS: Two small Staffordshire Figures, modelled as a Newfoundland or Hunting Dog; and a Red Fox, mid 19th century, the newfoundland with black and white spots, on a grassy mound, 10cm high; the seated fox, alert with a bushy tail, 8cm high (2). SCOTTISH: Three large Staffordshire Pottery Figure Groups, including 'The Stalker's Return'; Ponies Rest; and The Fox Hunter, the Highland deer stalker resting beside his pony and quarry, probably derived from Landseer's famous painting, painted in colours, 25cm high; The resting traveller by his pony, 23cm high; Hunter, 22cm high (3) Notable that the figure of the huntsman can be in several variants, usually with a deer and wearing a top hat, with a fox the hunter tends to have a rounded riding hat. COUNTRY LIFE: A pair of Staffordshire Pottery Equestrian Flatbacks, modelled as Huntsmen on Horseback, mid 19th century, each mounted, in a green jacket and bearing a captured hare, 19cm high (2). This has been described as 'Lord Raglan Hunting'. He was a well known Field Marshall in the Crimean War, however he only had one arm, so this previous attribution is unlikely. The left facing horse has an apparent repair to the nose. The right facing horse has a crack and chip to the back legs.
DOGS: Six assorted small Staffordshire models of dogs, including a rare Spaniel Lying on a mound, by Samuel Alcock, the brown and white spotted dog on a yellow gilt lined base, 5cm high; also a standing hunting dog; a seated gun dog painted with heart motifs; and three others, 5-10cm high (6).

SCOTTISH: Two Staffordshire Pottery Portrait Figures, modelled as Rob Roy MacGregor; and possibly his wife Mary MacGregor of Comar, 19th century, both standing in Highland dress, he holding a hunting horn, with his dog and quarry, she with a plaid skirt, hunting dog and caught bird, approx. 37cm high (2). She has also been previously described as Flora MacDonald (the lover of Bonnie Prince Charlie).Robert Roy MacGregor was a Jacobite Scottish outlaw, who later became a romantic Scottish and Jacobite folk hero. His grave is a popular tourist destination today.
