λ A Regency rosewood sarcophagus shape tea chest, inlaid with lozenge parquetry banding, the interior with a pair of pull-out hinged lidded canisters flanking a cut glass sugar bowl, with spreadeagle gilt brass side handles and claw and ball feet, 20.2cm high, 31.7cm wide, 16.4cm deep. Provenance: The Dr Lawrie Webster Collection of Boxes. See Antique Boxes, Tea Caddies & Society 1700-1880 by Antigone Clarke & Joseph O'Kelly, p. 171 for a Regency Irish caddy with identical handles and claw and ball feet.
A 19th century mahogany and inlaid tea caddy:, of rectangular outline, the shallow domed top inset with inlaid flowerhead medallion and brass loop carrying handle, enclosing three tin canisters, the front inlaid with shell motif and enclosed by chequered stringing, raised on ogee bracket feet, 28cm.
A small Victorian walnut and brass mounted tea caddy:, of rectangular outline, the domed hinged lid enclosing two zinc foil lined lidded compartments, 19 cm wide; together with a 19th Century rosewood and mother of pearl tea caddy, of sarcophagus outline, the hinged lid enclosing two lidded zinc foil lined compartments and central well, with ring turned handles to the sides, on four squat bun feet, 19.5 cm wide, (2).
A Victorian rosewood and mother of pearl travelling workbox and secretaire:, the hinged caddy top lid with mirror panel to the underside, enclosing fitted compartments for cottons, needles and sewing implements, the double hinged front backed with morocco leather panels, enclosing a further two short drawers and folding writing surface, raised on four ribbed bun feet, 35 cm wide, some damage.
