A Japanese lacquered table cabinet early 20th century, with hinged caddy top over two doors enclosing a bank of six short drawers, over a long base drawer, the front and top in black lacquer inlaid with birds amidst flowering foliage in stained mother-of-pearl, with pierced brass hinged and mounts, the interior gilt painted with boats in lake landscapes, 12in. (30.5cm.) high, 10¾in. (27cm.) wide.

A good George III silver six piece tea and coffee service John Emes, London 1798, fully marked, of oval form, comprising a teapot and stand, pedestal coffee pot, twin compartment tea caddy with hinged cover and fixed handle and twin handled sugar basin and milk jug with gilt interiors, all engraved with identical contemporary armorials and crests within crossed foliate sprays, bordered by wrigglework and foliate meanders, the coffee pot 12½in. (32cm.) high, gross weight 85oz. (6) * The arms are those of Parker impaling Walker, probably for Hugh Parker of Woodthorpe, co. York, and his wife Mary, daughter of Samuel Walker of Masborough, co. York, and granddaughter of Samuel Walker who founded the iron works at Rotherham in Yorkshire in 1746. Purchased: Sotheby`s, 11th April 1968, lot 79, hammer price £2700. See Illustration.

Herrold, in cartouches to the front and back, the sides painted figures in a rocky landscape with natural rocky bridge and by a farmhouse, the base impressed X and T in gilt. 3.5in (8.78cm).
