The correspondance box 23cm wide x 17cm deep x 14cm high.Qty: 2A loss to the bracket feet on the tea caddy. The top comes away when lifted by the carry handle, the top and one piece of the cornice comes away with it - need regluing. Some losses to the veneer. One of the corners of the bracket feet on the front right needs regluing.The correspondence box in generally good condition with some slight cracking to the top, and light scratching commensurate with age and use.

Gilbert Kidd of Malton (North Yorkshire) - late 18th century oak 8-day longcase clock c1780, with a tall double caddy top and later brass ball and spire finials, break arch hood door beneath with attached pilasters and wooden capitals, plain trunk with a long flat topped door, raised on a square plinth with applied skirting, brass break arch dial with the makers name to the silvered boss in the break arch, engraved and silvered dial centre and chapter ring, with cast spandrels and matching steel hands, subsidiary seconds dial and square calendar aperture, dial pinned directly to a rack striking movement with a recoil anchor escapement, sounding the hours on a cast bell. With pendulum and weights.The Kidd family were a prolific family of provincial clockmakers working in Malton from the mid 18th century until the early 19th century. Many of their clocks are simply signed "Kidds Malton" Dimensions: Height: 237cm  Length/Width: 45cm  Depth/Diameter: 25cmCondition Report: Seconds hand missing.
