A 19th century yew wood tea caddy, with loop handles, on turned feet, 15.5cm H x 24cm W x 13cm D. By repute made by John Barker of Dawley from a yew tree our of Dawley Church CONDITION REPORT: The turned handles and feet may not be yew wood. The lid does not close flush. Their is a faint hair line crack to both handles and they may have been re-attached / replaced in the past. The feet are not original. Some old hair line cracks externally and old 'touching up' repairs. The varnish to the to internal lids has heavily flaked. Losses to the veneer / cracks to both front corners internally. Floral knop to cover with losses. Box and cover with floral encrusting chipped throughout. Tea caddy with general surface wear and gilt wear. Small nick to rim.

Satinwood caddy - lid slightly warped, the exterior heavily discoloured and in a blistered varnish with numerous old digs and scratches, lock and hinges original.
