A George III mahogany tea caddy, of sarcophagus form with ebony stringing and brass lion mask handles, the hinged cover opening to reveal a parquetry decorated interior with two lift-out caddies and an associated central cut-glass mixing bowl, raised on brass ball feet24 x 34 x 17cmLion handles have been re-attached with later screws. Dry cracking and splits to veneer throughout. Corners have been knocked and in some areas re-glued. The lining in both caddies has deteriorated and some joints are slightly loose. The later glass bowl has some firing faults i.e. bubble in the base, and the felt is slightly rough on the edges. Some markings and scratches to the exterior. There is no key provided.
