A George III engraved silver tea caddy, of shaped oval outline, with friezes of floral and foliate motifs and garlands of ribbons and foliage, with four pendant oval medallions, each one engraved with a playful putto, by Andrew Fogelberg and Stephen Gilbert, London 1783 (with later Victorian lock), 12.5cm high, 16.75oz.
A mixed lot: a cast silver miniature figure of a bulldog, by S.M.D. castings, London 1972; a Victorian cast silver finial, in the form of a sailor figure, by Messrs Barnard (no date letter); a pair of silver salt spoons; a silver caddy spoon; a silver military badge, a mother-of-pearl and silver folding fruit knife; and an enamelled photographic portrait of young girl (on copper), signed “Lee and Company’s Patent Cardiff," the latter 7.2cm high, 5.95oz weighable silver. An Elizabeth II cast and sculpted silver caddy spoon, figural, in the form of a coy young girl in a clingy shoulderless dress standing on a shell, by Mary Dean, London 1986, 10cm long, 1.45oz.NOTE: Mary Dean trained at Sir John Cass College of Silversmithing, and graduated in 1972. Elected Fellow of the Institute of Professional Goldsmiths in 1986 after completing the necessary ten years as a practising designer and jeweller.
Two Victorian silver caddy spoons, with engraved stems, by George Unite; two other silver caddy spoons, by Hilliard and Thomason; and another, with a gilt oval bowl and an engraved fiddle stem, (maker’s mark partially worn), all Birmingham made, mixed dates 1862-1886, the longest one 10cm long, 1.85oz. An Edwardian silver rose bowl, on three feet, with shaped and moulded decoration around the sides and rim, and a presentation inscription, by R.&W. Sorley, London 1906; together with an Edwardian silver tea caddy, with a pull-off cap and an inset wooden base, by T.H. Hazelwood and Co., Birmingham 1906, the bowl 19cm diameter, 14oz weighable silver. (2)
