Payment will still be required within our usual terms and all bids will be binding. ** As can be seen in the catalogue photo, the front and right hand side have some damage to the fretwork panels. On the front, there is a piece missing from the lower left panel and there are two smaller areas of loss to the upper and lower right panels. The centre far left panel has two splits and the upper left panel has a split to the top. The right hand side of the box has a small piece missing from the top corner of the top two panels and there is a vertical split to both of these panels. The lower left carved and fretwork panels feel a bit loose on this side and would be ideally glued back more securely. The left hand side of the box has a split to the lower right panel and small old cracks to two other panels. The top carved leaf is missing the tip. On the back, the centre left fretwork panel has slipped slightly in its mounting and it has a small chip at top left corner and small crack lower right. One the lid, the tortoiseshell is in good cdn. Two old, small cracks to two bone panels. The centre back bone panel is missing the top layer of bone from the back right side of the panel - possibly due to an old crack or chip which has been repaired by grinding off the top layer. Probably restorations to the veneered edges to the exterior of the box. Interior good overall - some wear & losses to pink silk on edges of lid and base and inside the base from contact with the caddies. Contact marks to centre of lid from the star on the central brass caddy - this caddy pushes the lid upwards a little so it doesn't sit quite flush on the front edge - it would if the caddy could be locked but there is no key. One foot at the back is an old replacement. The base panel to the underside does move a little but remains in place - would ideally be carefully glued to secure properly.
