THOMAS SMILEY; an early to mid-Victorian hallmarked silver tea caddy of rectangular form, the hinged lid surmounted with a Chinese man modelled finial, with engraved detail to the body and centred with a crest, raised on four bun feet, the underside inscribed 'Elkington & Co, Liverpool (Retailers)', London 1865, 15.5cm tall, 11cm wide, approx. 13.5ozt/421g. Additional InformationOverall a good example and good condition. Both lid and base clearly hallmarked. Not sprung, free from any additional engraving, save from the crest. General surface wear throughout.

Light scuffs, scratches, the hinges are slightly loose. The cover is misshapen due to the loose hinges. Minor losses to the tortoiseshell in parts.
