A 19th century burr walnut tea caddy, of rectangular domed form, the hinged cover opening to a central mixing bowl aperture flanked by a pair of removable containers each with conforming domed and hinged covers, 18cm H x 28cm W x 15cm D, along with a 19th century tortoiseshell jewellery or work box, the hinged cover opening to a removable compartmentalised tray, 9cm H x 27cm W x 19cm D (2) (at fault)CR; Tea caddy: Each caddy shows splitting to the wood. Both shows scratching and wear to the front and reverse where they have been removed from their setting, as well as scratching and wear to the edges. The lining in each shows heavy areas of loss, wear and scratching, Both open smoothly, but covers do not sit completely flush. The box itself shows some splitting and bubbling, and heavy scratching and wear to the exterior. The interior shows heavy scratching and wear. Box is lacking key. The green felt to the base appears to be later and shows moderate wear.Work box: Heavy scratching and wear. Large split running horizontally across the base, and several other cracks to the base. The supports to the inside appear to be later added. There is splitting to some of the corners of the cover and the box. The hinges to the cover are slightly loose. The tortoiseshell coloured panels to the left side of the box may possibly be later, and shows heavy cracks and bubbling. There is some loss to the tortoiseshell on the reverse of the box and cover. Some of the tortoiseshell panelling is lifting in areas. Traces of glue residue throughout. Loss and damage to the wooden inlay surrounding the tortoiseshell. The lock is heavily damaged, and has become detached. The cover is slightly wonky and does not sit flush. Some losses the the interior compartment, and several areas of splitting.
