Fine and rare 17th century Flemish ebonised cabinet on later stand, the cabinet with rising caddy top enclosing small compartment and two stump work panels flanking central mirror, panel moulded below and with flanking drop handles on bun feet, enclosed by a pair of hinged doors, with an extensively fitted interior of short drawers about central cupboard, enclosing an architectural compartment with mirrored angles and gilt columns and ebony and bone chequerboard base, the interior extensively mounted with fine stumpwork embroidery panels, with birds, fish and scrolling foliage, with frieze drawer below, 61cm wide x 31cm deep x 56cm high, raised on later stand with barley twist supports and bun feet, united by an X-shaped stretcherTop with slight splits to reserves, hinged top yawns very slightly. Area of damage to top left corner, outer case is otherwise generally ok, just with small splits, wear, possibly small repairs. Interior with some deterioration and loose elements to stump work but colours are rich and mostly very good, some areas of staining - possibly old glue. Central cupboard is good, the various mirrors have some loss to silvering. Stand is later in date, with minor deterioration
18th century mahogany cased bracket clock with arched gilt and silvered dial signed William Robins, London, strike/silent to arch and date aperture, rococo spandrels, fusée movement with engraved scrollwork to back plate, striking on bell in mahogany veneered case with caddy top on bracket feet, 44cm high, key and pendulum presentGood condition, does run but strikes out of sequence and not tested for timekeeping. The movement appears to be in good restored condition. The case has some damage to the tracery on one side panel and a crack to the glass panel behind it. There is evidence that the case originally had some urn finials to the top corners and may have had a carrying handle at the top, the holes for which have been covered up with a small fillet of mahogany. The front left hand bracket foot is bent out of shape
