A GEORGE III FRUITWOOD MELON SHAPED TEA CADDYretaining extensive painted decoration, the lid with slightly dished top and stalk finial, having iron keyplate, 12.5cm hA very original example, the base with a shrinkage crack from top to bottom running down one of the four grooves which are evenly spaced around the circumference of the caddy. The stalk finial with old chip on the tip. The hinge and lockplate original, the lock present, the base with central plugged hole, as normal. Heavily encrusted with dirt and grime on the upper surface. Entirely unrestored
