In 1744 this group (then known as 'the gentlemen golfers') had drawn up the first official rules for a tournament which were to form the basis for the modern game of golf.

An Edwardian Royal Doulton Kingsware treacle glazed tea caddy, of shouldered form, relief moulded with an old woman drinking tea, plain polished silver mount and pull-off cover, marks for London 1906, 13.5cm high CONDITION REPORT:The silver cover shows a minor dent and some small distortions to the overhanging edge and the lower rim.  The collar shows moderate scratching commensurate with age and use.  The body shows minor surface wear but no obvious chips, cracks, crazing or restoration.
