A 19th century Chinese export black lacquered tea caddy, of good size, decorated in gilt with figure landscape scenes within borders, having pewter lined fitted single section interior, w.28cm Condition Report / Extra Information Has been well used.Lids bows, is bleached out and with handling wear.All sides with consistent pitting and handling wear.Interior missing one divider, otherwise good and original.Consigned by a local private vendor.

Joseph Stevens of Hampstead - early 18th century chinoiserie black lacquered longcase clock, the hood with caddy top and twin three-quarter turned pilasters flanking arched brass 12" dial, with signed silvered plaque to centre, matted centre, subsidiary seconds dial, the chapter ring with Arabic and Roman numerals, and strike-silent dial over, scroll cast corner spandrels, twin winding holes for an eight day brass four pillar weight driven movement striking on a bell, the case lacquer decorated with Japanese figure and pagoda landscapes, h.230cm Condition Report / Extra Information Height 230cm including finials.Case appears to have been re-lacquered and fully restored.Several shrinkage splits above door.Traces of old worm to pilasters.Door with full vertical split.Some minor losses to gesso.Dial and movement have been cleaned.Matted centre appears re-gilded.No unexplained holes to dial.Dial belongs to movement.Cheeks original.Seatboard is possibly old replacement.
