19th century rosewood and mother of pearl inlaid tea caddy enclosing two boxes and later mixing bowl, with opposing loop handles and raised on gadrooned bun feet, 35cm wide and 19cm high.CONDITION REPORT: Some colour fading. Marks and cracks to the mother of pearl. Old split to the right bracket of the handle. Inside of the lid is marked /scratched from the mixing bowl. One small area of mother of pearl is lacking (minor). Lid dirty. Overall good condition.
Dunlop Caddy papier-mâché golf ball advertising figure-mounted on naturalistic splayed base inscribed to 2 panels "We play Dunlop" together with all 6 clubs, shoulder strap and inscribed Dunlop No.6 to the rear of the head - still on the original ply board base - overall 16" # - note hairline surface crack behind the left ear
Very rare small 12" Dunlop caddy papier-mâché golf ball advertising figure - inscribed Dunlop 65 to the rear of the head - mounted on a naturalistic base inscribed "We Play Dunlop 65" c/w clubs, leather bag strap overall 12" h -the rarest of all golf ball advertising figures (bar the Silver queen - our auction has only ever had two which have come onto the market over the last twenty years - having seen more Silver King Figures during this time
A George III oak thirty-hour longcase clock, late 18th century, the posted countwheel bell striking two handed movement with anchor escapement and 11 inch square brass dial with floral spray engraved centre signed centre signed ‘MATT’W BANCE, HUNGERFORD’ within Roman numeral chapter ring and rococo scroll cast spandrels to angles, in a case with moulded cornice and turned pilasters to hood over rectangular caddy moulded trunk door and plain plinth base, 209 cm high Matthew Bance is recorded in Baillie, G.H. ‘Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World’ as working in Hungerford 1793-97.
A George II oak thirty-hour longcase clock, mid 18th century, the posted countwheel bell striking two handed movement with anchor escapement and 11 inch square brass dial with ring-turned decoration to the matted centre within Roman numeral chapter ring signed ‘William Abbott, Sarson Fecit’ and twin cherub and crown pattern spandrels to angles, in a case with moulded cornice and reeded pilasters to hood over shaped-top caddy moulded trunk door and plain plinth base, 205 cm high William Abbott is recorded in Baillie, G.H. ‘Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World’ as working in Sarson (Hants) during the early 18th century.
