An unusual simulated lapis lazuli lacquered tea caddy mid-19th century, of rectangular form, with Gothic style inlaid gilt brass mounts and ebony edge banding, the twin compartment interior with satinwood and ebonised lids and velvet lid lining, 9 x 5in. (23 x 12.5cm.), 5¼in. (13.5cm.) high, some crazing and minor losses to lacquer.
An Anglo-Indian Vizagapatam stag horn tea caddy 19th century, of serpentine form, veneered sandalwood, the hinged top opening to reveal a buffalo horn interior with twin ivory lidded compartments each with engraved floral monochrome penwork borders heightened in lac, with original lead lining, 7 x 11in. (18 x 28cm.)
MARY HICKLEY (PRE-REVOLUTIONARY RUSSIA), "Gold Glitter and Gloom, A Rush Across Russia, recollections of the Coronation of Czar Nicholas II and later travels in Russia", original typed manuscript dated 1903, together with a limited edition illustrated copy dated 1997 (No 8 of 100) and another bound copy. Sold with various artifacts featured in the book of Russian origins collected by the Author:- 1) Russian Brass or Bronze Bear vesta case with hinged cover and glass eyes. 60mm high. 2) Russian Orthodox silver cross. 67mm high. 3) Russian poker work box in the form of a two headed animal with inscription "Laura from The Princess, June 1906", chip carved boxwood. 86mm wide. 4) Small Russian carved boxwood triptych featuring the Virgin Mary holding infant Jesus, Saint Serga and Saint Nicholas, left panel glazed with relic hairs. 87mm high. 5) Russian cloisonne spoon, makers marks B.A assayer V.N, 84 zolotniks, purity mark, 1896-1908. 183mm. 6) Russian Neillo silver spoon, makers marks B.C assayer N.A, 1858, 84 zolotniks purity mark Moscow George Dragon mark. 185mm. 7) Russian lacquered and painted tea caddy, the cover painted with figures at a cottage door. 100mm wide. 8) Russian lacquered wooden letter knife with painted troika in the snow scene. 285mm. 9) 19th century Moscow porcelain bachelors tea pot by Alexy Popov, painted and relief decorated with trailing vines and underglaze blue mark to base. 170mm wide. (Restored). 10) Tiny boxwood stamp box with painted bird, probably Russian. 30mm wide. 11) Russian embroided cotton band with silk, satin velvet and gold thread. 60" Long approx. 12) Small painted envelope "Cossacks camping" addressed to Miss M. Hickley" Dinder House, Wells. 13) Three brass Orthodox crosses, a small brass bell and a Chinese silver cigarette case. 14) Turkish or South Russian copper kettle or wine pot. 60mm. 15) Pottery beaker bearing the arms of his Imperial Majesty Nicholas II, Emperor of all the Russians, 1896. 115mm high.
