Islamic Style Bronze Silver-Inlaid CaddyAn undated archaistic bronze caddy, tubular with three cat-shaped ornamental feet; the domed lid held in place by three cat-headed pins passing through pierced lugs ; the outer wall of the caddy decorated with dense silver inlaid designs including roundels depicting armed horsemen, musicians, a hunter, a harpist with scales, a lion, a running man, etc, and a band of calligraphic text above; inlaid guilloches to the wall and lid; further figural roundels to the underside. 999 grams, 18.5 cm (7 1/4"). A George III ivory decagonal tea caddy, with tortoiseshell stringing and banding, mother of pearl dot inlay, silver plated loop handle and escutcheon, above a bright cut shield shape plaque engraved a coat of arms, the interior with a lid, 4½ in, (11.5cm) high. The arms are for Arkwright and Hurt. A handwritten note states this caddy was given by Sir Richard Arkwright to his daughter, Susannah, who married Charles Hurt in 1780.
