It was inaugurated on July 28, 1833 in the presence of Louis-Philippe, for the 3rd anniversary of the 1830 revolution which brought him to the throne. The vendome statue was replaced with one of Napoleon draped in a Classical toga, and eventually was installed at the Cour d’Honneur at the Invalides on March 11, 1911, where it still stands today.
