A good mid 19th century Austrian brass cased carriage clock by Adolf Uhlig Wien: Uhlig of Vienna was active 1833-58. White enamelled dial with Roman chapters, framing a subsidiary seconds dial over inscription "Adolf Uhlig / IN WIEN", over subsidiary calendar dial and alarm dial, the four-train movement with platform escapement. The rear engraved "Adolf Uhlig in Wien" beneath further German engraved captions, 16cm to top of handle, in original morocco-covered case with side hinge and sloping roof. Partially working, insofar as the repeat works on the hours and quarters, and may strike the minutes also, but one winding square appears to indicate a broken spring on that train. Alarm sets and works. The main going train is fully wound and NOT ticking. An exciting clock.
