A brass carriage clock, with two train movement striking on a gong. Height excluding carrying handle 13 cm, complete with key and case. CONDITION REPORT: There is no serial number to either the case, key or clock. The movement does wind on both trains and seems to strike correctly when manually advanced. The movement is not running for any length of time but does tick for a short period when agitated. The clock case is in generally good order with only minor tarnishing. The right hand carrying handle is detached from the case but we have the screw. The face appears to be in good condition. The carrying case is tired which is fairly usual.
A 19th century mahogany cased mantle clock, with two train fusee movement, the dial inscribed James McCabe, London. Height 26 cm, width 18 cm, depth 12 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The case is in reasonably good order. It is structurally sound. Beneath the brass knop there has been a timber fracture and the piece has been reglued into position. The front edge of the moulded cornice has also had a break that has been repaired. The sides of the case are in generally good condition as is the front base and back. The brass handles appear to be original. The silvered brass dial is a little rubbed in places. The brass feet appear to be original. The movement does wind on both trains and seems to be ticking away. It does strike when advanced. Please note that this is no guarantee that the clock will run for eight days, it is just an indication only. There is no inscription on the backplate. In our opinion the case and movement are not a marriage. It is not possible to take photographs of the movement due to access.
A 1930's green frosted relief moulded glass desk clock. Width 7 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This clock appears to be in good overall condition to the case with the moulding being quite crisp. The only minor blemishes that we can see is looking at the underside of the case there is a degree of fritting or very minor chipping to the front edge and there is a very small flake chip to the back left corner. Looking at the front of the case the bezel and glass are in good order although the bezel does need a good clean. Looking at the rear of the case the metal back is slightly corroded and scuffed. The clock does tick when lightly wound but would appear to need cleaning and overhauling.
A 19th century French black slate mantle clock by Marti et Cie, of architectural design, the cream dial with Arabic numerals striking on a gong. 26 cm high with key for same. CONDITION REPORT: The movement is fully wound on the right hand train but does wind on the left hand train. We have the key and pendulum but have not had the clock going for any length of time. The movement does strike when advanced, this is a little sporadic. The face is in generally good condition as is the main door. The slate case has some minor edge nibbles and one more significant chip to the top right hand corner.
A 19th century French black slate and pink variegated marble mantle clock, by Marti et Cie, the cream enamelled dial with Arabic numerals to the movement striking on a bell. 26 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and appears to be ticking away as it should. When the movement is advanced the strike operates. There is one nibble to the face around the right hand winding aperture, otherwise the face is in good order as is the front and rear as are the front and rear doors. The case itself is in generally good condition with only very minor edge nibbles.
A large late Victorian ebonised three train spring driven bracket clock, with Cambridge and Westminster chimes striking on eight bells and one gong. Height 69 cm, width 45 cm, depth 28 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The movement is fully wound on the right hand facing train. Both other trains wind. The movement is a little dusty but does appear to be ticking away. When the hands are advanced the movement does both chime and strike. We have the pendulum but no key. The silvered brass dial is in good order. The case itself is a little dusty and dirty and there are some minor stress fractures to the ebonised finish particularly around the top arch. All brass work is present. The doors are not warped. The front door is not locked. Both the key and the pendulum are present. All metalwork is present.
A 19th century Black Forest Cuckoo bracket clock, with two train fusee type movement, with carved case and compete with key and pendulum. Height 39 cm, width 25 cm, depth 19 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This clock does not bear a Beha makers mark or indeed any other apparent marks to the back of the movement. The back of the clock case however bears a label for G & P Kuss & Co, Clock and Watchmakers, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. This clock would appear to have the original rear door. The movement winds on the right hand train when viewed from the front. The left hand train does appear to wind, there is no resistance but clearly some attention is required here. We have not had the movement running. We do have the key and pendulum but not the bell. The case is in generally reasonably good order with no significant losses. As we have not had the movement operating we do not know if the bellows work or the cuckoo itself.
A Victorian black slate and marble panelled mantle clock by R Sutton Paris, with two train striking movement. Height 33 cm, width 25 cm, depth 14 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. The pendulum is in the bottom of the case and we cannot quite reach it. The movement appears to be ticking without the pendulum in situ and is striking when advanced. The glazed front door is in good condition but a little stiff. The dial is in good order. The case is dirty but in generally good condition with no significant chips or nibbles.
An Art Deco variegated marble circular mantle clock, on rectangular plinth with spelter ibex. Length 45 cm, height 22 cm, depth 10 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds and appears to be ticking away. The pointers adjust as they should. The marble clock surround and base in in generally good condition. There is one front right hand corner base edge chip which is not particularly visible but clearly present. The ibex is a little stained with Verdigris. This should in the main just wash off with a damp cloth.
A French brass carriage clock, timepiece with alarm with Roman numerals, complete with carrying case. Height excluding handle 10 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock doesn't appear to work and probably would benefit from an overhaul. The height of the case is 10.7 cm and the width is 8 cm. It does have a key present. There is no obvious damage other than some hairline cracks to the enamelled dial, the remainder appears to be in good condition.
A collection of four brass carriage clocks, three timepieces only, one with alarm. CONDITION REPORT: One timepiece has a chip to top left hand corner of enamelled dial and a chip to the top left hand corner or the glazed rear door. Another timepiece has a hairline crack running diagonally across the dial. The third appears to be in good overall condition. The clock with alarm has two very small chips to the plaster face and some scuffing to the metal case. The repeat button is also slightly loose.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany bracket clock, with silvered dial and three train spring driven movement striking on five gongs, complete with key and pendulum. Height 42 cm, width 28 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on the middle and left hand front facing trains. The right had train is fully wound. When the movement is manually advanced it does appear to strike. We have the key and pendulum. The movement does not appear to be currently ticking. The silvered brass dial is a little tarnished in places but in generally good order. The clock case is also in good condition with no serious issues. There is a minor nibble to the front right hand cornice corner and the odd other surface mark and scuff. The worst affected area is to the right hand and left hand returns to the pediment. There is some veneer loss here at the front right hand corner and half way down the left hand return.
A 19th century French ormolu and porcelain panelled mantle clock, with key and pendulum and with two train movement, the dial signed Woolnough, Westbourne Grove. Height 39 cm, width 26 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The urn form surmount is loose and has some wear to the gilt and painted decoration, the gilt metal body has some small areas of losses to the gilding, the dial has some areas of losses to gilding, the clock is complete with pendulum and two keys, the case back has some slight bending mainly where the name P H Mourey is stamped, overall the clock is in good condition.
A late 19th century bracket clock, with two train spring driven Winterhalder and Hoffmeier movement striking on two gongs, complete with pendulum. Height 53 cm, width 32.5 cm, depth 23 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains. We have the pendulum. The movement appears to be ticking away. It does strike when advanced. The hour hand is missing. The dial is in reasonable order with some rubbing to the silvering. The case is in generally good condition with no significant issues. It is simply a little dirty and dusty. We do not have either the front door or back door key. The front door is not locked and the lock is present. The rear lock is actually missing.
An 18th century oak cased 30 hour clock by John Lawrence of Lancaster, the 29 cm brass dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, the centre engraved with leaves and with faux twin winding holes, to the movement striking on a bell, contained in case with turned pillars to hood, shaped trunk door and apron. 207 cm high.
A Victorian mahogany wall clock, the dial marked Camerer Cuss & Co New Oxford Street, with possibly later Winterhalder & Hoffmeier spring driven movement, case diameter 30 cm, overall height 37 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds and appears to be ticking away as it should. We have not had it running for any length of time. We have the key and the pendulum. The case is in generally good condition as is the glass and dial. There are some very minor nibbles around the winding aperture. The case looks to have been repolished and is in generally very good order.
A Regency mahogany bracket clock, with two train striking movement, twin fusee, dial marked Robert Roskell, Liverpool. Height excluding handle 46 cm, width 32 cm, depth 19 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The arched top has a central square section holding the brass handle, this square section has some cracking to the veneer and is slightly loose within its surround, the right-hand side moulding has a central split and the arch veneer has some splitting also. The circular dial is generally in good condition with some minor losses to the paint and some wear to the makers details, the clock body has a split below the circular dial running along the re-entrant tablet inlay, the base with minor edge knocks etc, the sides fish scale vents have some oxidation throughout, and the left side has some splitting to the veneers as does the right side, the rear door has been re-glazed and has applied repair labels dating to December 03 and July 2016, the movement has some scratches but generally appears in good condition, the rocking mechanism for the dial appears to be missing, there appears to be an additional wooden section to the opposing side, the rear door has some veneer splitting and minor losses but overall the clock is in good condition. The clock has not been running and we are unable to advise whether the clock is operational.
A late 18th century single handed hooded alarm wall timepiece, case height 57 cm, width 32 cm, depth 20 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The dial size for this clock is 17 cm square. Visually the case exterior is in good condition, the flat top has some age-related splitting and some staining around the fixing points to the base moulding, the dial appears to have been cleaned as does the mechanism and the seat board appears to be a replacement, the apron or fret cut moulding appears to have been re-attached, the movements ropes and weights appear to be later, the shaped base section has splitting and some minor losses. Looking at the case throughout there is a possibility that the case has been fully restored i.e taken apart and re-assembled, we have not had the clock running and cannot guarantee that it is fully operational.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by Robert Manley London, with eight day striking movement, long trunk door and panelled base raised on bracket feet. Height 220 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking when advanced. The date wheel is present but currently detached from the movement and requires some attention. The dial has lost all of its silvering but is in generally good order. The hood door has a cracked glass. The trunk door is not warped. We have both the hood and trunk door keys and they do lock. The lock escutcheons are later. The case is in generally good condition with only minor blemishes. There is a stress fracture to the join running vertically on the bottom front panel. The plinth moulding seems to be raised on later short bracket type feet.
An early 19th century oak and mahogany crossbanded longcase clock, with movement by James smith of Wrexham, the 33 cm painted dial with calendar aperture to the eight day movement striking on a bell, contained in case with swan neck cresting, turned pilaster hood, the trunk with fluted quartered columns and later inlaid with checkered banding and shell paterae. 213 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: The movement winds on the left hand train and seems to wind on the right although the gut has slipped from the barrel. We have the key weights and pendulum but have not had the clock ticking. The movement looks reasonably clean. The hood is in generally good condition. There is some veneer loss above the left hand pillar. The hood door is not warped. The trunk door is also not warped. The lock escutcheon is missing. The sides of the case and base are in generally good order. The front panel has a centre stress fracture and some minor discolouration. Part of the lower base plinth moulding is missing on the right hand side and on the right hand return. The backboards are original. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.
