Regency style flame mahogany cased brass inlaid bracket clock with twin fusee movement, the 5in silvered dial with Roman numerals, the small twin fusee movement striking on a bell, the arched case with split turned pillars, brass boxwood and ebony inlaid and on brass ogee feet, with twin carrying handles, height 38cm.
OF LEVANT MINE DISASTER INTEREST* A bronzed Spelter and green onyx clock garniture and with inscription 'PRESENTED TO CAPT B NICHOLAS BY THE EMPLOYEES OF PARBOLA MINE LTD AUGUST 1907', with 3in porcelain dial with Arabic numerals and with French movement, height of clock 56cm CAPTAIN BEN NICHOLAS was the Captain in charge of the Levant Mine on the day of the disaster on 20th October 1919 during a shift change, this clock was given to Captain Ben Nicholas when he left Parbola for Levant where he was in charge of several hundred men. Captain Ben Nicholas was forced to retire through ill health in about 1920 and died in 1926, being buried in Pendeen Church.
