James Burr - Bristol. An 18th century mahogany cased West Country longcase clock. The brass face with upper strike / silent dial over Roman Numeral chapter ring, seconds dial and date aperture. Cathedral Breguet hands to centre. Inset 8 day movement. Set within mahogany hood, trunk and plinth. Arched hood with brass ball finials. James Burr of Bristol is recorded in A. J. Moores 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of Bristol' book as working from 1735 before taking on an apprentice in 1741. He worked at 16 Claire Street and St. Stephens. Measures approx. 227cm x 49cm x 23cm.

Central brass eight-day movement clock face with roman numerals to the chapter ring embellished in relief gilt, framed in the shape of acanthus leaves. Gilt metal pendulum. All flanked by a group of four inlaid columns with Corinthian capitals. Raised on a squared base with bun feet below. Measures approx. 53cm x 26cm x 14cm.
