Good 19th Century Oak Cased Marine clock with silvered dial, roman numeral chapter ring and marked "Walsh, Jones Co. London", the oak case diameter 27.5cm x depth 11cm. Walsh Jones & Co was a short-lived partnership in Melbourne in 1854-1855, between Henry S. Walsh (1806-1877), a Melbourne clock and watch maker and retailer, and Edwin Jones of Melbourne. The clock face gives the firm's address as London, but this was a common practice for Melbourne firms that were importing and retailing English made clocks.Fusee & platform movement. Staffordshire / local interest: Late Georgian oak cased grandfather clock by 'Foden Leek' with brass face and single hand with rope driven mechanism, missing key / pendulum, 192cm tall. Generally in good condition though some signs of wear consistent with age are apparent. There is a section of trim missing to the bottom and knocks / minor chips to wood also apparent with age. The mechanism may need some attention and sold as non-working. Please do check photos.
