CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is generally very clean. The only issue with the hood is that the glass is cracked. The painted dial is a little rubbed in places but is in generally reasonably good condition. We have two weights and a pendulum. We have not had the clock ticking, however if weight is applied to the going train it appears to operate. The trunk door is not warped. The sides of the case are in good order. The base panel has a shrinkage crack between the two boards that form the front. The front left bracket foot is partially missing. The backboards are original.
A Scottish mahogany longcase clock by Howden of Edinburgh, with circular dial, long trunk door flanked by fluted quarter column corners, with two-train striking movement, with pendulum and weights. Height 204 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The dial diameter is 32 cm. The hood is generally very good order and of good colour. The brass bezel is original and also in good condition. The movement appears to be complete and as stated we have the pendulum and two weights. We have not had the movement running as the feather to the pendulum is missing. When weight is applied to both trains the movement does appear to strike and tick. The face has blemishes around the pillars and some paint loss. The trunk door has a minor nibble to one door point. There is also a small loss to the top left-hand corner and top right. The door is however not warped, closes as it should and locks. The sides of the case are in good condition. The base is missing part of the bottom edge moulding and the right-hand return moulding. There are some stress fractures to the sides of the base and some old marks and scratches.

The trunk door is not warped and there are no significant scuffs, marks or scratches. The door to the hood is currently locked and we do not have a key. The movement is currently ticking away, we have the pendulum. The movement is spring and not weight driven therefore there are no weights. The movement is fully wound on two trains and whilst it is currently ticking away it is not striking when advanced. The silvered brass dial is dirty and the chimes silent lever is missing.

Height 35.5 cm. NOTE - A handwritten note to the interior inscribed "This clock was the property of Lord Nuffield's parents, Mr & Mrs Morris and was left to their daughter Miss Morris Lord Nuffield's sister who was resident at the convent in East Grinstead, she gave it to her chauffeur because the sisters considered its striking too loud".
A gilded brass four glass clock, of oval form, the enamel dial with Brocot escapement and with eight day movement chiming on a bell and with mercury compensating pendulum, the glass with bevelled edges. 20 cm wide, 30 cm high (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in extremely good condition all round. There is no tarnishing to the case. The front door panel and both side panels are in good order with no chips. The rear glass panel has a very small chip to the bottom left hand corner of the door. This is barely visible. The movement strikes on the full and half when manually advanced. The movement has been running for the past 10 minutes and appears to be ticking away as it should. The two glass tubes that house the mercury are discoloured at the top. The chapter ring has a hairline crack running from the bottom edge below the numeral 6 through the minute markers to just below the numeral 5. There are two further faint hairline cracks running from the outer to inner edge of the chapter ring.
A 19th century papier mache mantle clock, the silvered brass dial marked Mappin & Webb with two train striking movement stamped "Henry Marc, Paris". Base width 36.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The hands are missing. The movement does however wind and is ticking away and striking when it reaches the hour. When we say ticking away that is without the pendulum which we do not have. The glass surround to the door is a little tarnished and slightly loose at the hinge. It does however stay shut. The silvered brass dial is dirty and scratched. The cylindrical surround to the movement is in generally good order with no significant losses to the paintwork just the odd minor mark. The scrolling support is again in good condition and the clock is not loose on the support. There are some minor marks and nibbles around the bracket feet. The worst affected foot is the rear right where there is a small loss and more significant scuffing. The circular rear panel that lifts off has two losses and stress fractures to the papier mache. The centre cloth panel is loose. As this is at the rear of the piece this is less important.
