Joseph Durward, Edinburgh, a Scottish George III 8 day oak longcase clock, late 18th/early 19th century, the 12" silvered dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, signed, the movement striking on a bell, the hood with broken swan neck pediment and plain columns, the long case with a shaped door flanked by fluted quarter columns, 49cm wide, 222cm high, key, pendulum, two weights.Durward is recorded both Baillie's Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the World and John Smith's book, Old Scottish Clockmakers. He was made a member of the Clockmakers Company in 1775 after writing a paper on "Balance wheel and pinion". He worked for 40 years at 29 Leith Street Edinburgh and retired in 1819.Sold with a receipt from Robert Morrison of York for £180 in 1974 and another by the same for restoration work for £133 in 1979, including resilvering the dial.

J. Richardson, Bubwith, an early 19th century oak and mahogany 8 day longcase clock, the painted dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the movement with cast iron false plate by F? & MORE, striking on a bell, key, broken pendulum, 2 x weights, 225cm. The Richardson family of clockmakers started with John Richardson, d.1805, had two sons, John and William Richardson. Both were watchmakers, William's (d.1840) son was John Richardson, the shop was run by Trustees when William, until his son, came of age.

Francis Moore, Ferrybridge, a George III oak 8 day longcase clock, the 12" brass dial with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the chapter ring with Roman numerals and Arabic minutes, cast brass spandrels, the movement striking on a bell, plain arched hood and trunk, door with plaque "August 21, 1755", 2 x weights, no pendulum, 202cm. Moore is listed in Brittens Clockmakers as working in Ferrybridge c.1775.

A good late Victorian bracket clock by Goldsmiths and Silversmiths at 112 Regent Street, London. (C 1908) Fusee, two-train movement, chiming on a gong. Contained in an oak case with brass embellishments to case. Arch brass dial with maker name on a cartouche. 6" x 8". Case overall 9" x 14" (top of handle) x 7" deep. Condition report: Good condition: restored by owner who was a clock and watch repairer. Winding key present. Movement working but not fully tested. A/F.
Nicholson of Whitehaven Cumbria 8 day longcase clock with penny moon Good 18th Century 8 day Longcase Clock. Two train movement striking on a bell with 13" square brass dial with penny moon and date ring. The four leaf clover winding squares can clearly be seen on the movement and was a nice touch adopted by the Nicholsons. Contained in a walnut case with mahogany cross-banding 92" x 20" x 28"This clock is in good condition and restored by the deceased father who was a clock and watch repairer. My only comment is that the matching of the cross banding needs to be redone or coloured in to match.William and Jacob Nicholson were fine clockmakers and produced some outstanding clocks and this is certainly one of them. S Underhill of W-Hampton (Wolverhampton) 8 day longcase clock with 14" still arch dial Arabic numerals. In an associated Chippendale-style case made of mahogany with lovely carvings and veneers. 26" x 96" x 10" deep. Samuel Underhill recorded as working in Wolverhampton between 1826-34Condition report.Movement and case do not belong together. The case is of fine quality and very imposing some inlay missing and scratches and marks due to age. Movement is working but not tested.
