Lot 1448
An unusual late 19th century oak and brass automatic memorandum clock, the hinged pediment enclosing a 48 slot revolving dial to facilitate the insertion of an ivorine tablet which discharges into a slot below the main dial at a predetermined time in order to activate the alarm, the square brass dial with silvered chapter ring, height 38cm. This type of clock was first patented in 1891 by John Davidson. (Illustrated).

John Carmichael of Greenock is listed by GH Baillie as 1750 - 1800, maker of the first clock in Greenock Parish Church, 1786. (Illustrated).
