London Underground enamel SIGN 'Way Out and to Platform 2 for Grange Hill, Chigwell, Roding Valley & Woodford' with feathered arrow piercing the bullseye. From Hainault station on the Central Line and would have been located in the subway beneath the platforms. The former GER/LNER station became part of the Underground from 1948 and the sign is likely to date from the re-opening. Measures 61.5" x 13" (156cm x 33cm) and is in reasonable condition with some small chips and corrosion stains. [1]
1920s London Underground enamel SIGN "Platform no 2, Southbound Trains, Bank, Charing Cross, Morden" with a 4-feathered arrow. Believed to be from Tufnell Park station and almost certainly dates from the opening of the Morden extension in 1926. Comes in its original wooden frame and is lightly curved to fit against the subway wall at the entry point to the platforms. Measures 43" x 29" (109cm x 74cm) and is in excellent, ex-use condition. A scarce early WW2 era Zenith Indian Army issued pocket watch. Black dial with clear 1939 date, broad arrow marked, and a letter ‘I’ between the arrow and date, which would indicate an Indian Army issue. Luminescent cathedral hands, with the 12 and 3 numbers also being luminescent. Subsidiary dial at the 6 o’clock position. White metal case, marked to the back cover with a broad arrow, letter I, ‘G.S.MKI’ and the serial number 8173679. The screw off back cover has the Zenith logo and Swiss Made stamped to the inside of the case. Movement also marked Zenith, and numbered 3040340. Condition. The case is cosmetically clean and tidy. Dial is damaged in two places - at the 10 o’clock position where it has been repainted, and towards the centre of the subsidiary dial, and this has also been repainted. The watch winds and seems to work as it should, but this is by no means guaranteed. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A WW2 era Omega G.S.T.P military pocket watch. White dial with Arabic numerals, luminescent cathedral hands, plus luminescent 12, 3, and 9. Subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock position. Nickel case with broad arrow mark to rear cover, and GSTP mark. Serial number F027685 to back case, with the movement marked 10015407. Condition: light service wear to casing. Dial in clean condition, but luminescent paint rubbed to number 12, and 9, plus the paint to number 3 is completely missing. When wound, the watch would appear to run correctly, but this is by no means a guarantee. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A vintage Tissot British military issued wristwatch. Silvered dial with Arabic numerals, and syringe style hands. Subsidiary dial a 6 o’clock position. Case cover to the back marked ‘W.W.W. Q225’ with a broad arrow. Plus, ‘Non-Magnetic - Swiss - Waterproof’. 15 jewel movement, numbered 1522321. Fitted with a green leather strap. Approximately 3.3cm wide across the face (including crown). Condition: generally good. Some wear to the casing, with fine scratching and contact marks. Strap in used but serviceable condition. When wound, the watch would appear to run for a while, stopping intermittently, so it may be in need of a service. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A H.Williamson Ltd Admiralty issued pocket watch. Numbered 415183 to dial and back cover, the latter also having a large broad arrow mark. White dial with Roman numerals, spade hands, and a subsidiary dial at the 6 o’clock position. Swiss made nickel case, which is numbered ‘12143’ to the inside. Approximately 5.5cm width across the face. Condition: generally good. Normal service wear to the case and glass from use. Numerous hairlines to the enamel dial, but no apparent losses. Small scuff to the ‘glass’ at the 7 o’clock position. When wound, the watch would appear to operate as it should, but this is by no means a guarantee. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A WW2 era 1943 dated artificial horizon MK1B aviation instrument. Broad arrow marked, with the pattern number 6A/1498. Marked ‘Do not jar handle like eggs’ around the circumference. Handwritten maintenance details to side, with possible 1953 date. Used in Spitfire planes, among others. Plus, a tachometer indicator, indistinctly marked KTD / 501W. Manufactured by Kelvin & Hughes Ltd. 2 items. Condition: normal service wear and tear to painted surfaces. very minor corrosion to some parts of the metal body.
A WW2 issued ‘Dirty Dozen’ wristwatch by Record, circa 1945. Chromed case with black dial, subsidiary dial, and luminescent hands. Broad arrow marked below the number 12, plus the number ‘10034’. This number relates to the MOD part number for the dial. Earlier watches would have had the brand name of Record on the dial instead of the part number. The screw off back cover is stamped with the usual W.W.W for ‘Watch-Wrost-Waterproof’, the broad arrow mark, and the numbers ‘L23965’ and ‘541812’. The inside of the back cover is also marked WWW with a broad arrow, and the number 541812. The movement is marked as being Record. The watch is complete with a more modern black leather strap. Notes: as was routinely common for the era, the watch has been likely in the hands of the R.E.M.E for service / repairs. The 3 digits stamped to one of the lugs should match the last 3 digits of the L number, and therefore should read 965. But, the lug stamp reads as ‘248’, which would mean that the back cover has been replaced during a service or repair. Approximately 3.6cm width across the dial (excluding the crown). Width between lugs 1.8cm. Condition: generally good. Clean dial and hands. A little wear to the chrome plating around the lugs from service wear. When wound, the watch would appear to operate normally, but this is by no means a guarantee. The strap is in good order and quite usable. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A British No.7 MK1 bayonet and other military related items. To included: a 1948 dated No.7 bayonet, designed primarily for the Sten Gun. With paxolin grips and distinctive swivelling pommel. The blade is marked at the ricasso with ‘No7 MK1 L’ and to the other side it is faintly marked 1948 and what appears to be a letter P in a circle. This would likely related to the Poole factory, who produced around 30,000 of the 176,000 produced in total. The pommel is faintly marked ‘F5B’ and with a broad arrow mark, plus the other side is faintly marked ‘Made in UK’. Please note that the bayonet is minus its scabbard. Plus a Skean Dhu style sock knife, with citrine paste stone set into the pommel, and base metal mounts. A Irish clan badge style motif is inset into the grip, a cased Pingat Jasa Malaysia Medal complete with its miniature medal and ribbon bar, a WW1 era ‘Bovril Handy-Book & Diary of the War’, 2 x Peter Hicks bronze resin military figurines, and 2 vintage Dinky armoured vehicle toys. 8 items. Condition: Varies across pieces. The No.7 bayonet is good, with only normal service wear. The Skean Dhu is in good condition. The WW1 booklet is in poor condition, with loose pages and creasing. The Pingat Jasa medal appears to be virtually mint. The resin figurines are in average condition, and one has rifle that appears to have broken away. The 2 Dinky toys are play worn, with missing tracks to the tank.
A WW2 era 1945 dated ‘Denison’ airborne paratrooper’s smock. Made from heavy duty, windproof camouflage fabric. Of pullover form, with working zip from the collar to chest area. 4 pockets to the front, each with press stud closures. Button down epaulettes to the shoulders, plus button fittings to the cuffs. Adjustable flap to the back ‘skirt’ area, which would have used to loop under the gusset area and fix to the front skirt. Original fabric label fixed to the inside, noting that the smock is size 3, 1945 dated, and made by John Gordon & Co. There is also a ink stamp that reads: ‘Z WD 19’ with a broad arrow mark. The letter code Z would also indicate a 1945 production date. Condition: generally very good, with some service wear. Some soiling / collar grease to the collar area, plus a few tiny nibble to the fabric on the edge of the collar. Small nibble to the fabric of the right breast pocket. Small hole to the front skirt area near the bottom of the left hand pocket. All buttons / press stud fittings appear to be present. The internal cloth label is intact, but the stitching has come away to one side. On the whole, a good clean example of its type.
A rare WWII Grana ‘Dirty Dozen’ Military wristwatch. Undoubtedly the Holy Grail for WW2 wristwatch collectors, this Grana example is one of only 1000-1500 made during the late WW2 era. 12 manufacturers were contracted to make British military watches (hence the Dirty Dozen moniker), and Grana made by far the fewest. Marked with a broad arrow to the back cover, and the letter W.W.W, which stands for ‘Watches,Wrist, Waterproof’. The serial number M18694 is marked below the WWW, indicating a 1945 manufacturer date. The case is of stainless steel, with a black dial with subsidiary dial, sword style hands, and a screw on back cover. Luminescent numerals and hands. The black dial has undergone an interesting modification during the post war era, with the military broad arrow having been (almost invisibly) painted out. Information supplied by the vendor suggests that his father had this minor alteration made in order for it to not be obviously of military origin. The removal of this painted modification may be possible. The watch is currently fitted with a later, likely 1960’s stainless steel expanding bracelet strap by Fixo-Flex. The watch measures 3.8cm wide, not including the crown. Condition: cosmetically very good. Normal light signs of service wear, with fine scratches to the glass and stainless steel casing. The movement would appear to work when wound, with both the minute and second hands operating as they should. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A WW2 era Timor military wristwatch, broad arrow marked to the case cover, plus A.T.P (Army Trade Pattern), and the serial number 137359. Off white dial with black numerals and luminescent hour marks. Subsidiary second hand dial. Fitted with with what is likely a later leather strap. Notes: At the beginning of WW2 the British Government needed to source wristwatches for its troops. Many watches were acquired using different brands, but all came under the umbrella term of ‘Army Trade Pattern’. The A.T.P watches were the precursor to the so called ‘Dirty Dozen’ watches, which Timor in part also produced. Condition: generally solid, with service wear. The glass front shows scratches and light scuffs from wear, plus the chromed finish has worn to the high points, revealing the brass base metal. The leather strap has wear, with the retaining loop having partly broken away. When wound, the watch appears to work, with the second hand moving smoothly, but this is by no means guaranteed. The movement would also appear to work silently.
A WW2 era Waltham Premier Military Pocket Watch. Open faced pocket watch, with a signed black dial with lume Arabic indices and outer chapter ring, subsidiary dial, chrome plated case approx 52mm, keyless wind, case back and movement both marked 30895714 (winds but not working). Notes: the movement number would indicate a production date of circa May 1942. Plus, a WW2 era military chrome cased Lemonia stop watch, marked to reverse broad arrow PATT.3 31628 (not working). Approximately 5.5cm width. Condition: wear and tear to the cases of both, the Waltham has a little loss to the number 10 on the dial. The Lemania has a little light scratching to the glass Both pieces are non working Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
An Admiralty HS4 Fleet Air Arm instrument panel watch by Golay & Sons Ltd. Off white dial with Roman numerals, marked Golay & Sons London and the number 630. Rotating black bezel with degree markings. Plated alloy case, with HS4 mark and broad arrow to the screw off cover. Movement also marked ‘630’ and ‘Swiss Made’. Complete with a Poljot type 3 part mahogany box (replacement hook fasteners). Condition: generally good. Some normal service wear to the case, and a little light scratching to the glass front. When wound, the watch appears to run as it should, but this is by no means a guarantee. The top lid of the wooden case would seem not to close properly. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A WW2 era RAF issued folding machete, issued as part of the survival kit for the Beadon Flying Suit. Broad arrow marked and dated 1945, with the makers mark for Joseph Westby, Sheffield. Composite plastic grips secured with 5 rivets, and complete with its scarce original slide on blade cover. Approximately 40cm length with blade open. Plus, a WW2 issued ARP Wardens home front helmet. With black painted shell, and white letter W to the front and back, rexine style liner and webbing chinstrap. Condition: solid construction, with service wear and surface wear to each. The machete folding blade mechanism works as it should, but is very stiff when moved. Some paint loss to the blade guard, plus light corrosion. The exposed area of the blade has surface corrosion and light surface scratching - the cross guard is in a similar condition. The helmet has normal paint loss, and light surface corrosion in places. Both the liner and chin strap appear to be complete, with both having normal service wear.
An Admiralty pattern 300 pocket watch. White dial with Roman numerals, blue steel hands, and subsidiary dial at the 6 o’clock position. Nickel case, stamped ‘Patt 30’ to the back case, a large broad arrow mark and the serial number 4158. 15 jewel Swiss lever movement. Screw back cover and front, with the back cover numbered ‘3216021’ to the inside. Approximately 5.2cm wide across the face. Condition: generally solid. Small round shaped fractured to the enamel dial between the number 4 and 5. Fault to the glass between the 7 and 8 o’clock position. Nickel casing a little dulled and showing normal service wear in areas. When wound, the watch would appear to operate as it should, but this is by no means a guarantee. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A WW2 era “Dirty Dozen’ military wristwatch, by Longines. An original piece, but in need of some TLC. Stainless steel case, with black dial and luminescent cathedral hands. Subsidiary dial at the 6 o’clock position. Back cover marked 23088, 2246, a broad arrow, and ‘WWW’ which stands for ‘Watch, Wrist, Waterproof’. Plus a serial number of ‘F5970’. Notes: the largest watch of the Dirty Dozen series, measuring 38cm across. It’s believed that around 8000 were produced by Longines. One of the lug carries an identical number of 2246, which would indicate that the case cover has always been with the main body of the case. Condition: generally in need of refurbishment. The casing is structurally sound, with only light cosmetic wear. The crown is missing, thus preventing it from being wound. The second hand on on the subsidiary dial is missing, and it is missing a strap. It’s unknown if the mechanism works. A good project to undertake, which when completed would make a fine watch.
A scarce WW2 era Admiralty 301 Pattern Helvetia wristwatch. An odd looking watch, which at first glance appears to to be a converted pocket watch, but would seemingly have been made with strap lugs attached, and with crown positioned at ‘3 o’clock’. White dial with subsidiary, spade hands, and Roman numerals. Nickel case with crown and suspension loop to the right side. 2 wide strap lugs at the 12 and 6 position. Large broad arrow mark to the back cover, plus ‘Pattern 301’ and the serial number ‘4018116’. A search of the serial number would suggest that the watch was made in 1940. Notes: period images would suggest that the watch was designed to be worn over a uniform, and its large size would make the dial easily readable while at sea. Research suggests that watches such as this one could have been used for Torpedo timing control. The watch is fitted with relatively modern brown strap. Approximately 4.9cm wide across the face, 6.6cm including the crown and suspension loop. Condition: generally very good. Some light service wear in places, and a couple of minuscule dents to the back of the case. Dial in good clean condition. When wound, the watch would appear to operate normally, but this is by no means a guarantee. The strap is in good useable condition. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
Waltham Vanguard Royal Navy inter war period issued deck watch. Circa 1927 manufacture date. White dial with Arabic numerals, and subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock position. Marked ‘Waltham USA Vanguard 23 Jewels 6614’ plus a broad arrow mark. Nickel case with screw off back, with this also being broad arrow marked and having the code ‘H.S.3’ which would indicate that it is a deck watch. Movement marked with serial number 26223723. Dennison mark to the inside of the back cover. Condition: generally good. Clean dial with minuscule hairline between the 11 and 12 (about 3mm length). A little rubbing to the manufacturer details and broad arrow to the face. Case in clean condition and just light service wear. Both the glass and back cover unscrew without issue. When wound, the watch would appear to run correctly, but this is by no means a guarantee. Note: regarding watches/pocket watches please note movements untested, functionality untested, for more information request a condition report with specific questions or please view in person
A WW2 era Swiss made GSTP pocket watch. Black dial with smaller subsidiary dial, and luminescent hands. Nickel case with broad arrow mark to the back of the case, plus the serial number K.1751. The GTSP would indicate a ‘General Service Time Piece. 5.3cm wide across the case. Condition: good. Some normal service wear to the outer casing. The movement appears to work when wound, but this is by no means a guarantee of its working condition.

A London-made and war department-issued Colt 1851 Navy pattern single action .36 calibre percussion revolver, serial number. 5881, the barrel marked "Address Col, Colt London", the cylinder and frame marked with the broad arrow and WD mark, pistol 33 cm longPossibly Crimea or Boer War service.Samuel Colt whilst exhibiting at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London, was staggered by the level of European interest in his affordable mass-produced firearms, such was the demand that he later established a factory in Pimlico near Vauxhall Bridge in London. The manufacture ran from 1853 to 1856 and so its production was limited, although it is thought that 37,000 Colt Navy pistols were produced at this location. A private collection
