A scarce WW1 era Australian 1907 pattern hooked quillon bayonet by Lithgow. With the Edward VII cypher and crown at the ricasso, and a date of 7’19’ for July 1919 (possibly a reissue date?). Broad arrow mark, bend test mark, and inspection stamps to the reverse of the ricasso. The the usual wooden slab grips held by 2 screw, and a blued steel pommel with push button release catch. Single edged blade with long fuller and flat spine. Complete with dark brown leather scabbard, with darkened steel throat and chape, plus a round frog stud. The leather on the scabbard is embossed stamped ‘Mangrovite /42’. Approximately 56.7cm length in scabbard, blade length 43.3cm. Condition: generally good. Some normal age and service wear to the wooden grips, and some overall darkening to the steel parts, and a little mottling to the blade. Some scratching / scuffing to the leather on the scabbard, but otherwise intact.
An 1876 pattern, Martini Henry socket bayonet, complete with scabbard. Dated stamped ‘/89’ to the forte for 1889, and the ‘WD’ war department stamp and broad arrow mark. There is a cross through number, which appears to be ‘707..’ and a letter R, which may mean Reserve. There is also a BR inspection stamp, which would indicate that it’s been back for repair at some point. The scabbard is of leather construction, with a black painted steel throat and chape, with the throat being war department and inspection stamped, as well as the leather also having an embossed stamp. The bayonet blade is of triangular form, with the usual blunt cutting edges, on account that it was a lunging weapon rather than cutting. Blade length approximately 54.6cm, overall length in scabbard is approximately 65cm. Condition: some service and age related wear. The blade area has overall surface rust spotting, but it may be possible to improve this. The socket section has a dark colour, but is complete and would work as originally intended. The scabbard is complete, but there are 2 areas of splitting to the seam along the edge.
A British knife bayonet No 7 MK1, with scabbard and webbing belt strap. Originally designed for the No 4 and first used on the Sten Gun MKV. With dark brown Paxolin grips, and the usual swivelling pommel, thus allowing it to be used as a fighting knife or bayonet - one grip has a white painted number on it, and the pommel haas the remains of a yellow / tan painted finish. Single edged blade with deep fuller and rounded spine. Marked ‘No 7 MK 1/L’ to one side of the ricasso, along with the broad arrow, and the other side having some indistinct numbers. Short cross guard with large muzzle ring. The scabbard is complete with its round frog stud, and is fitted with an off white webbing frog. Approximately 33cm in scabbard, blade length 20.4cm. Condition: generally good. Blued finish to the pommel and scabbard remains intact. Clean blade with minimal track lines, and usual darkened area to both sides of the ricasso. A little surface wear to the grip section, with a couple of small chips, and a small loss near one of the screws. The swivel pommel works as it should, as does the release catch to the pommel. The webbing frog is soiled from use, and there are some ink stamps to the reverse, but it’s impossible to read half of the mark.
A British WW1 1907 pattern Wilkinson bayonet, complete with scabbard and later webbing frog. Usual wooden slab grips, with what appears to be an identical embossed king’s crown inspection stamps in the wood on both sides. Steel cross guard with muzzle ring, and birds beak pommel with button release catch. Marked to the ricasso with the king’s crown and GR, plus the pattern of 1907, and the date of ‘12 15’ for December 1915. Also various inspection stamps and a bend test mark. Leather scabbard with blued steel throat and chape, the former with teardrop shaped frog stud. The webbing frog is broad arrow marked, and has a faintly ink stamped date of 1941. The leather scabbard is also embossed stamped ‘HGR 15’. Approximately 57.8cm length in scabbard, blade length 43.4cm. Condition: good. Normal age and service wear, with darkening to the steel parts. Some scratching to the leather surface of the scabbard, but this otherwise remains intact.
A post WW2 Cold War era R.A.F. Squadron Leader’s battle dress blouse. Of regulation pattern, with fitted zip, and additional press stud fittings to the front and pockets. Black Queen’s crown buttons applied to the pockets, and plain black buttons to the epaulette and waist strap. Lace Squadron Leader rank slides to the epaulettes, and a WW2 era King’s crown embroidered RAF wings badge stitched to the breast. No official government issue label with broad arrow or date present, but there is a Burton tailored label to the inside, suggesting it’s likely a private purchase piece.
A WW2 era Fairbairn Sykes 2nd Pattern ‘B2’ Commando Knife.Featuring the usual chequered or ‘crosshatched’ brass grip, oval steel cross guard, and a flattened diamond section blade.Complete with its original leather sheath with integral belt loop. The only stamped marks are a broad arrow, and the B2 mark to the guard (with only the bottom part of the 2 distinct). The retaining nut also has the class indentation left over from the construction process.Approximate length 28.4cm, blade length 15.8cm, length including sheath 32.7cm.Condition: some age and service related wear and tear. The tip of the blade is missing, and now has a flattened off appearance. Some mottling and minor surface pitting to the blade, and some minor surface corrosion to the guard. The leather sheath is structurally sound, with a good colour and patina, but the 4 leather ‘tabs’ to the back of the sheath have either been removed or have come away in the past.Important Note: due to recent changes in Royal Mail’s policies, we can no longer use our in-house postage service to mail this item to a buyer. It may be possible to use other carriers to transport the item, but collection by the buyer is strongly recommended.
A British 1888 pattern MK1 Type 2 ‘Lee Metford’ bayonet, complete with leather scabbard and Slade Wallace buff leather frog. With 2 brass rivets and oil hole to the wooden grips. Steel quillon and muzzle ring, plus pommel with button release catch. Matched numbers to the pommel and scabbard, plus the regimental marking of ‘1MM’ which is believed to be the 1st Monmouthshire Regiment. Blade dated ‘5’91’ for May 1891 at the ricasso, plus a broad arrow, inspection stamps, and bend test mark. Broad arrow marked to the back of the leather frog, but no obvious date marks. Approximately 44.4cm in its scabbard, blade length 30.5cm. Condition: generally good throughout. Normal age and service wear, with some darkening and patination to the metal parts. Some soiling to the leather frog, where it has rubbed against a uniform and the bayonet itself. Intact wooden grips and working button catch to the pommel. Good leather on the scabbard, with minimal wear. The blade would seem to have been cleaned with something abrasive in the past, with a little over 3/4 of the section from the point upwards having a matt finish, and the ricasso area being more shiny.
A South African R1 bayonet, with steel mounted nylon scabbard. Of tubular from, and marked with a letter M inside a U, indicating South African military property. Also marked with its serial number of 210811. Approximately 31.8cm in its scabbard. Together with a British No9 MK1 bayonet with its steel scabbard and green webbing frog. Made by the Enfield factory and dated 1952 (intertwined E and D, and ‘52’). The webbing frog is ink stamped for 1945, and has the manufacturers mark of M.E.C and a broad arrow. It also appears to have been later stamped with another another broad arrow and 63 for 1963. Approximately 27cm in its scabbard. Condition: some service and age related wear, but both pieces remain solid and complete.
A small selection of WW1 and later leather bayonet frogs. To include: a 1917 dated German Mauser frog, stamped 1917 to the reverse of the belt loop, plus the manufacturers details of ‘H.V.Schutze, Hannover’. Together with a WW1 or WW2 era Australian issue leather frog for the 303 rifle, with a faint broad arrow mark between DD, a Swiss M57 frog, marked ‘M.Hachler Wallikon.ZH 87’ and an unidentified frog or leather pouch. 4 items. Condition: vary across pieces. The German 1917 frog remains supple, but there is some damage to the front pouch section. The Australian frog has supple leather, and retains its strap and brass buckle to the front. The Swiss front is in good condition, with a good colour and patina to the leather, which also remains supple. The unidentified leather frog or pouch has some loss of leather, and has some holes to the pouch areas.
A circa WW2 era RAF issued stopwatch. Housed in a nickel case, with several engraved markings to the back cover, including the broad arrow with intertwined F over the number 162, T.P (trade pattern?) and ‘1/10’ indicating 1/10th split second timing. There are also the serial number and pattern numbers of ‘3308/60’ and ‘6B/910002’. White enamel dial with subsidiary dial at the 12 o’clock position. The stopwatch has a loosely fitted nickel guard chain, with the other end having an Acme bakelite British Rail whistle attached. Approximately 5cm width across. Condition: fair. Some fine scratching to the glass cover on the front. Minor chipping around the hand on the subsidiary dial, some hairline fractures to the dial, plus some normal service wear to the case. The watch is wound, but would not appear to work. Clean movement, but likely in need of a service in order to make it operable.
A 3rd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes Commando knife, with the Indian contract mark of a letter I over a broad arrow mark to the cross guard. Supplied by Wilkinson in 1943, the terms of the contract stated that no additional markings, such as trade marks were to be put on the pieces (numbering around 2500 in quantity). The only other mark appears to be a raised number 2 cast into the pommel area. Distinctive doughnut shaped securing nut to the end, along with the usual tool mark to the nut from where it’s been tightened. Flattened diamond shaped blade, with the usual V shaped grind to the central spine, as seen on the 3rd pattern FS knife. Complete with its brown leather scabbard with metal chape. Approximately 30.5cm in its scabbard, blade length 17.1cm. Condition: generally good. Good overall colour and patination to the piece, but there is a little oxidisation between the grooves in the handle. Normal service and age related wear. Together with what appears to be a civilian issue Fairbairn Sykes style knife, lacking its scabbard, and no visible marks (oxidisation to the handle).
A WW2 era, No.4 MKII* spike bayonet, made by Howard Bullough of Accrington, circa 1942-43. Complete with steel scabbard, and later white webbing frog (dated 1954). The socket of the bayonet is marked ‘H30’ for Bullough, who was one of the smaller producers of this item, manufacturing little over 160,000 pieces during WW2. The piece is also broad arrow marked, though all the stamped marks are a little indistinct from wear. Together with a post WW2 German small small dagger in the style of a WW2 era SS dagger, marked for Linder Messer Solingen Whitby Germany. Complete with its scabbard with leather belt loop. Spike bayonet approximately 27cm in scabbard, some service wear / scuffing to the metal in places. The German knife is approximately 28.4cm length in scabbard, some wear to the grip in places, blade good, but the scabbard’s painted surface has degraded, likely due to poor storage conditions.
An original late WW2 era ‘Dirty Dozen’ watch by Cyma, complete with NATO strap, and 2 additional spare straps. With a stainless steel case, black dial, and luminescent number points. Luminescent sword hands, and subsidiary dial at the 6 o’clock position. Marked with the broad arrow and maker to the dial, plus the broad arrow, W.W.W, the serial number and stores number to the back case. The engraved numbers are P27294 and 32294. Notes: There were known to have been approximately 20,000 Cyma watches produced as part of the government contract. Their delivery was very late in the war years (early 1945), and many Cyma’s never actually saw WW2 service. At 37mm, the Cyma is the largest watch within the Dirty Dozen set. Condition: good. The watch is in cosmetically good condition, with only minor normal age and service wear to the steel casing and glass. The black dial is clean, with well defined numbers, broad arrow and makers mark. The watch appears to work well when wound, but this is by no means a guarantee of its timekeeping ability. The straps are a little grubby in places from service wear, but remain useable.
A selection of British Women’s Land Army apparel, including some original WW2 era pieces, together with some later re-enactment items. To include: a likely reproduction felt hat, fitted with a genuine WW2 era die stamped gilt metal and enamel badge - with hinged pin and C clasp to the reverse. Another loose WW2 era die stamped metal and enamel badge, with hinged pin and C clasp. Reproduction long socks for wear over the breeches. Reproduction brown leather belt. 2 modern black wool berets. A pair of good quality reproduction beige coloured corduroy breeches. An original WW2 ere WLA tie, with ‘Tootal Tie’ label. A WW2 era tan coloured over jacket, with faded broad arrow stamped issue label to the inside, and the words ‘Women’s Land Army’. A long khaki green undershirt (possibly a period piece) A reproduction green woollen sweater. 2 likely WW2 era collarless white shirts, one with ink stamped marks to the collar, which read ‘LA&S 15 1402 41543’. And a WLA armband, with embroidered 2 year service diamonds (this likely being a reproduction). It’s believed that whole ensemble has been previously used for re-enactment purposes, and could certainly be used again if desired. Condition: good to most pieces. The green undershirt has a small hole / tear to the right sleeve, plus some wear to the collar area. The tan overjacket has some rust coloured stain spotting to the front, and is missing one of its horn buttons. The felt hat has some small punched holes to the crown area, in groups of 5, which suggests that something has been attached previously. The original tie remains in good condition, as does the later armband. Both metal WLA badges show a little age wear, but remain in good condition. The socks, belt, and sweater remain in good condition. The cord breeches remain generally good, with just some light soiling to the nap of the cloth from wear. The 2 white shirts remain in good condition.
A 19th century P1876 Martini Henry socket bayonet. Likely of the Zulu war era, and only carry the Enfield inspection and the ‘WD’ war department mark and broad arrow mark (from mid 1882, bayonets of this kind were dated). Of standard form, with a triangular cross section blade, with each side having a shallow fuller. Marked with the serial number of 146 to the collar section. Approximately 52cm in length. Condition: generally good. Some odd small spots of surface rust in places, but these should be removable without too much bother. Good overall colour to the steel, with just a little dark mottling in places. The scabbard is absent.
A scarce WW1 era United States 1913 pattern Remington bayonet, converted in the post WW2 era to a fighting knife for the French Foreign Legion (believed to be a ‘stop gap’ weapon). With correct ‘1913’ pattern stamped to the ricasso, and the date of ‘2 16’ for February 1916. The reverse side of the ricasso shows various stamped British inspection marks, a War Department broad arrow, and an ‘X’ bend test mark. With slab wooden grips, each with the distinctive double groove cut into each side. The cross guard has had its muzzle ring ground off, with this now being of oval form. The blade has been shortened, with the fuller now all the way down to the point of the blade. The original green leather scabbard has also been shortened, with metal throat having been repositioned and stapled into place. The bayonet also has been fitted with a tan coloured leather frog, with press stud retaining strap, which is correct for this type of conversion. Both blade and other metal parts have been blackened, which is a feature seen on other conversions of this type. Some sources suggest that this type of knife was issued as recently as the 1970’s in Zaire. An interesting piece, that may have seen service in two World Wars before its conversion. Approximately 35cm in the scabbard, blade length 18.7cm. Condition: good. Some normal patination and service wear to the wooden grips, and a little light contact wear / scuffing to the leather scabbard. The blade is good, and the button release catch to the pommel still works as it should.
A Czech VZ-58 bayonet, complete with its 1982 dated leather sheath. Produced from 1958 through to 1984, and still in use today. Of later production, with bonded particle board grips secured by 2 rivets, an extended cross guard, and parkerised blade. The blade is single edged with a fuller, and a false edge near the tip. Marked ‘12d46’ at the ricasso, and an ink stamp to the sheath, which reads: K6 ‘Crossed Swords’ 82, OTK Serie 2’. Approximately 29cm not including sheath. Together with WW1 era United States Remington 1913 pattern bayonet, with date stamp for December 1915, and the British broad arrow mark, bend test mark, and inspection stamps. Complete with its usual wooden slab grips with double notch, steel pommel with button release catch, and cross guard with muzzle ring. The bayonet is accompanied by its metal mounted leather scabbard. Approximately 57.2cm in its scabbard, blade length 42.7cm. Condition: generally good. Some light service to the Czech example, with a little staining to the leather sheath. The WW1 Remington example has overall darkening to the steel parts, with pitting to the cross guard and pommel. Some service wear to the scabbard, but this remains intact.

A superbly patinated, factory-built GTD 40 offered fresh to market from long term ownership. GTD Supercars were the best known and most respected builders of GT40 replicas in the country in the late 1990s and had the necessary facilities and talented engineers to make an excellent job of it. They had started out originally as agents for the KVA GT40 replica but it wasn't long before they had redesigned the front and rear of the KVA chassis and were selling the cars as GTDs. As is often the way with bright young engineers, they weren't happy until they were building the whole car to their own standards and many of these still take pride of place at GT40 events today. On offer here we have a factory-built example that’s finished in dark blue with a black interior, gently patinated with a genuine feel of originality and authenticity. First registered in 1990, this particular GTD had just one recorded former keeper prior to our vendor who has enjoyed the car for over 30 years. During this time it has rarely been dormant, pressed in to use on a regular basis for European and UK excursions and taking in many race circuits on its travels. Regular use dictates regular care and maintenance and our vendor was obviously diligent in that respect as evidenced by the number of invoices in the car’s history file including one that details a recent engine rebuild around a new block.Motivation is provided by an Arrow Ford 351ci (5.7-litre) Cleveland V8 with a 750 Holley carburettor breathing through free-flow headers and exhaust all mated to a period correct ZF gearbox, a necessary and expensive (c.£20,000) upgrade due to the fragility of the often utilised Renault gearbox. We understand that engine output is in excess of 400bhp which, in a relatively light car only a few inches off the ground, certainly demands your respect. The car was checked over prior to sale by legendary historic racer and GT40 aficionado, Willie Green and given a clean bill of health. It’s supplied with a comprehensive history file and its current V5C showing that the vehicle is correctly UK-registered.Over the years there have been a number of GT40 replicas, some reasonably accurate and some less so, but the GTD is so close to the original that its new owner will have to get used to being asked on numerous occasions if it’s the real deal.
