A scarce pre WW1 War Department 8 day Rolex-marked Mark III dashboard/ desk/ cockpit watch, as used by the RFC, RNAS and RAF, the black figured white enamel dial transfer printed "Elliott Bros/ London/ Rolex 8 Days/ Mark III/ W broad arrow D" and "RAF Repair/ No 453", the Octava movement numbered 48483, the back of the case deeply impressed with large broad arrow and "WD", in its protective outer steel case numbered "23", with perspex front cover.
