Two silver pocket watches - the first with presentation engraving on inner back plate dated 1923, white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds dial, marks for Birmingham, 1946. W.E, 125998, movement plate numbered D37147 and arrow mark (with key); the second with gold spade hands, the case stamped 0,935 numbered 196756
Georgian British Navy 'Noonday' Bronze Cannon with Carriages Pair Dated 1741 AD. A matched pair of cast bronze 'noonday' half-inch bore miniature cannon for black powder; the barrels with flared muzzles, astragal and fillet moulds to the reinforcing rings, breech bases and knobs; each with stamped 'broad arrow' mark on top face for the British War Department and with raised square plate above the touchhole engraved with the British crowned cypher for George II, the right side trunnion stamped with the date '1741' and the left with maker's mark 'IEC', possibly for the Swedish gun founding company Ehrendal Foundry which supplied arms to the British government in the 18th century period; each barrel mounted on a traditional wheeled hardwood carriage with metal fittings and chains, including a separate wedge for elevation. 3 kg total, 23cm (9"). Ex Jersey collection; acquired 1980s. Miniature cannons were fired to mark noon each day (the height of the sun at noon being critical for navigational computations, knowing the precise time was very important) and were also used for general signalling; they would have been present at naval shore establishments wherever the British Navy was based throughout the world. [2] Fine condition; the wood carriages restored. Rare, especially as a matching pair.
Shipwreck World War One 'HMS Ghurka' Brass Shellcase and Wooden Shell Carrier 20th century AD. A group of two items recovered from the wreck of HMS Ghurka comprising: a wooden carrier with five circular vertical holes to accept shells, slightly curved with vertical slots to the ends and four attachment holes to the rear face; a shell case for a 12-pounder gun stamped on the end 'RL/i', '1905', 'N5' under the war department arrow, 'CF' and '12', with screw closure in place, still in the end hole of the carrier when recovered. 5.3 kg total, carrier: 67cm, case: 40cm (26 1/4"). Recovered by the vendor from the undersea site, off Dungeness, Kent, UK, 1980, (prior to the site's designation under the Protection of Military Remains Act, 1986); with an information sheet. HMS Ghurka was a 'Tribal Class' destroyer built in 1907 by Hawthorn Leslie and Co. at Hebburn, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She served in the North Sea and English Channel with the 6th Destroyer Flotilla and took part in anti-submarine action in the Straits of Dover. She was sunk when she hit a German mine off Dungeness, Kent, on 8th February 1917. Only five of the 72-man crew survived the wreck. [2, No Reserve] Fine condition.
A silver pair cased verge watch with very rare dial for the Ancient Order of Foresters, movement signed Jno Blaylock, Carlisle, no. 804, diamond endstone, the dial centre with two figures dressed in green tunics lined with gold, standing with bow and arrow and a dog flanking an armorial beneath a watchful eye, a motto beneath reading 'Unitas Benevolentia et Concordia', the inner case with engraving John Bell, the outer plain, London 1834, 58mm diameter.The Ancient Order of Foresters (now Foresters Freindly Society) was founded in 1834, the year this watch was made. The first members recognised that they had a duty to assist their fellow men who fell into need 'as they walked through the forests of life'. Foresters attained legal status in 1850, and set up the UK's first voluntary lifeboat fund in 1864.

A Two-day marine chronometer, the 4 inch silvered dial signed Victor Kullberg Maker to the Admiralty, The Indian & Italian Governments, 105 Liverpool Rd, London N, no. 8074, engraved Royal Warrant and Grand Prix 1900, subsidiary up / down at 12 o'clock, subsidiary seconds at 6 o'clock engraved with medal roll and war ministry arrow 1/1910, Earnshaw spring detent escapement, invar helical spring, free-sprung, bi-metallic balance with auxiliary compensation spotted movement also numbered 1/1910 below arrow, in a brass bowl, gimballed in a mahogany box with flush fitting handles and signed and numbered plaque, box 7in (18cm) square.This chronometer was the first ordered by the Indian Government in 1910, hence 1/1910.
