The eight day movement strikes the hours on a bell with an inside countwheel, the six turned and finned movement pillars are all latched, as are the dial pillars onto the frontplate, the 12 inch square brass dial having cast brass ‘cherub and head’ spandrels to the four corners, with a seconds dial and date aperture to the matted dial centre with wheatear border engraving to the edge of the dial breaking below the chapter ring at VI o’clock for the engraving of the maker’s name ‘Richard Streete, London’, the raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman hour numerals, and Arabic five minute numerals with engraved arrow head crosses at the half hours and 7½ minutes and with blued steel hands, the later mahogany case having a plain base with a shaped top to the trunk door and with free standing hood pillars, each with gilded Corinthian capitals, height 210cm.

A Derby figure of Time Clipping the Wings of Love, the bearded figure naked save for a purple drapery painted with groups of flowers, the struggling figure of Putto in his arms, their emblems at their feet, on puce and turquoise edged scrolling gilt base, 33cm h, William Duesbury & Co, patch marks, c1770. In a generally excellent state of preservation, with some old restoration to the tip of one of Putto's wings, a few minor nicks to, for example the arrow-feathers in the quiver on the base, but the fingers and toes all present and seemingly unrestored, the decoration finely executed and the gilding original with little if any sign of wear. An excellent example.
