A very rare Indian ivory Card Case, late 18th/early 19th century, carved on one side with a pagoda, flanked by three figures under coconut palms, the base with three top hatted figures on a triple arch, small figures at the foot and within leafy trees in which perch two birds, the other side with an arcade enclosing two hunters with each two hounds, the centre with a man and his wife beneath leafy swags, the top with three seated figures, small arrow-like birds drifting on most parts, the sides with dotted palmettes, 8.5 x 6.2cm The figures' dress would appear to be 17th century. The piece is very well carved and most of the iconography appears parallel with coconut carvings of the late 18th/early 19th century. The buildings bear a resemblance to those on some bidri wares, such as those on a 17th century huqqa base illustrated in Bronze, Silver & Gold from Mughal India, Mark Zebrowski, 1997, pls. 519 and 510 CONDITION REPORT: Tiny crack to top left hand corner. Small carving mark to opposing corner. Very faint crack to lower left of the upper section. Possibly, although we believe contemporary, a small splice repair to the interior section.

A BELL FROM THE DOVER-CALAIS FERRY CANTERBURY, 1929, cast in brass with moulded rim and clapper and inscribed in black-filled lettering over a decorative motif -- 12½in. (32cm.) high, Built by Denny Bros. in Dumbarton for the Southern Railway Co`s "Golden Arrow" service, she registered nearly 3,000 tons, could carry 800 passengers, and was fitted with Parsons turbines producing 22.15 knots which helped cut the time from London to Paris to 6 hours 35 minutes. She was broken up in 1965.

Hamilton. A military deck watch, white enamel dial signed Hamilton with war department arrow, centre seconds screwback inscribed Navigation Master Watch, Mfrs Part no. 3992B, Serial no. 1568-1942 Hamilton Watch Co. H.S.3, in a case with milled bezels, 51mm diameter, with mahogany deck box. (2)
John Roger Arnold. A unique and well documented longcase domestic regulator, the 12 inch circular silvered dial signed J. R. Arnold, AD. MDCCCXXXIV, subsidiary seconds, most unusual arrow flight hands, substantial five pillar movement in shouldered plates, dead beat escapement with jewelled pallets and Harrison maintaining power, set-on-beat adjustment at top of crutch, mercury jar pendulum suspended from the back lock, in a mahogany case, the panelled plinth with double stepped base trunk door flanked by brass inlaid canted fluted corners, the break arch hood similarly flanked, ball and spire finials, 1834, 86in (218cm) high including finial. Literature: Robinson, Tom: The Longcae Close. Illustration of movement, dial and case on p. 407. Pages 406 and 409 discuss the clock: `Arnold was in partnership with Dent 1830-1840 so with this signature the clock must have been for personal or family use. Vandrey Mercer suggests that it could have been made to celebrate Arnold`s silver wedding`.

This example is described by the vendor as being in very good order having been restored in 2010/11 when many new parts were fitted, including new rims and spokes, rear shocks, tyres, silencers, chain etc. and a full engine rebuild was carried out. It has done very little mileage since the restoration was completed. It comes with its original and unusual registration number which is transferrable, a V5c document and it has a current MOT which expires in September 2014.
