VICTORIA CROSS: Selection of small 12mo signed clipped pieces and slightly larger cards etc., brief A.L.S. (1) by various recipients of the Victoria Cross comprising Harry Cator (1894-1966, British Captain of the British Army; awarded for his actions near Arras, France, on 9th April 1917 during the Arras offensive), George Chafer (1894-1966, English Private of the British Army; awarded for his actions east of Meaulte, Somme, France, on 3rd - 4th June 1916), William Coltman (1891-1974, English Captain of the British Army; awarded for his actions during the operations at Mannequin Hill, north-east of Sequehart, France on 3rd - 4th October 1918), Gabriel Coury (1896-1956, English Captain of the British Army; awarded for his actions near Arrow Head Copse, France, on 8th August 1916) and George Dorrell (1880-1971, English Lieutenant Colonel of the British Army; awarded for his actions at Nery, France, on 1st September 1914; brief A.L.S., G. T. Dorrell, one page, 8vo, Effingham Junction, 29th September 1966, to Mr. Clark, sending his autograph although regretting that he has no available portrait). Group of military and other watches and parts to include; Carley and Clemence Ltd MII number 3081905 base metal stopwatch with white Arabic dial with subsidiary dial at 12, Broad Arrow Ordnance mark to case back, together with a cased compass, wristwatch with black dial, a Smiths black Arabic dial, perhaps for a cockpit clock etc Condition:
A wrought iron weather vane; pierced arrow head above E, S and W pointers (the N (for north) now missing) and further over open leaved flower heads; 103cm tall CONDITION REPORT: Part of the bar for the N is not missing it is just the actual N for north which is missing. Although there is a slight kink at the end of the bar which would need to be addressed. There's a small 1cm hole in one of the leaves over the bud but the flowers and leaves are all there. The rest of the piece, although a little rusty in places looks complete. On the whole it is not in bad original condition.
A very intricately sewn mid-19th century sampler depicting three vertical bands with various chevrons and patterns flanked by pink arrow-style designs; burr walnut framed and glazed; 23.5cm x 28cm CONDITION REPORT: On the whole this looks reasonable although there does look like reparation of stitching in the top left hand corner and there is some material away in the top right hand corner also bottom right hand corner and bottom left. See images.
Autographs - 1933 Davis Cup Signed Dinner Menu - dated 20-5-1933, signed by winning team Fred Perry, Bunny Austin, D. MacPhail, G.P Hughes, and H Lee, with some illustrations to the front, decorated in gold gilt, measures 12x19cm approx. Train Pullman Golden Arrow Flèche d'Or a luxury boat train of the Southern Railway and later British Railways, linking London and Dover where passengers took the Ferry to Calais.
An English porcelain bough pot and cover c.1800, painted perhaps in the atelier of Thomas Baxter with a central panel depicting Cephalus and Procis in sepia on a black ground, he pulling the arrow from his lover's breast, bordered by pink roses and reserved on a yellow ground between moulded columns, cracked, some chipping to the cover, 21.4cm across. A .65” William IV Light Dragoon flintlock pistol, 15” overall, barrel 9” with Enfield ordnance proofs (worn); stepped line engraved lock having raised pan and safety bolt and stamped with crown over “WR”; walnut fullstock with faint broad arrow over “BO” mark on the butt; with regulation brass mounts and swivel ramrod. Good Working Order and Condition (top jaw and screw replaced, filled hole through the butt). Plate 31

Yeomanry Cavalry, 15” overall, barrel 9” with Enfield ordnance proof; stepped line engraved lock having raised pan and safety bolt and stamped with crown over “WR”; walnut fullstock stamped with broad arrow over “BO”, inspector’s marks, and contractor’s name “Bond”; with regulation brass mounts, trigger guard stamped “HYC” over “8”, with swivel ramrod. Good Working Order and Condition (dark finish to lock and barrel, the latter with some light pitting) Plate 31
A brace of flintlock mail coach pistols comprising: a scarce 16 bore brass barrelled flintlock mail coach pistol by Harding, 14½” overall, barrel 9” engraved “J. Harding & Son. Boro. London 383” (route number), breech struck with London proofs and crown over broad arrow, with no sign of muzzle engraving; flat stepped lock with safety bolt, plate struck with crown over broad arrow, engraved “Harding & Son”, and dated “1840” on the tail; walnut fullstock with brass mounts including military pattern trigger guard and domed buttcap with short tail, and original brass tipped ramrod with iron worm. Good Working Order and Condition (slight age wear to the lock with some very light pitting); also an identical pistol for the same route 383, the ramrod with iron worm which screws off and reverses. Harding, Borough, London, and route number “158”, the breech struck with London proofs and crown over broad arrow twice, muzzle engraved “For His Majesty’s Mail Coaches”; flat stepped lock with safety bolt, plate struck with crown over broad arrow, engraved “J Harding” and dated “1800” on the tail; walnut fullstock with brass mounts including military pattern trigger guard and domed butt cap with short tail; with later brass tipped ramrod with concealed worm. Good Condition (the action requires attention, slight age wear and patina to the lock) Plate 36

A SET OF FOUR BRASS/BRONZE AKAN BRACELETS 19th century, ball, arrow and other motifs with rich glowing patina evidencing much use, 10cm high Provenance: A well respected Portobello Road tribal art dealer Possibly once used as currencies, these pieces have been much cherished for nearly ten years and can be rearranged and exhibited to look almost like human forms reminiscent of Asian Art.
Five of holsters, to include two leather Sam Browne WW1 era holsters one by French dated 1916, the other stamped 6/01 R.R. another by Hobson and Sons dated 1899, a tooled and embossed Western style holster, one canvas holster, a leather strap broad arrow marked and dated 1944, a triangular leather pocket, webbing strap, tribal arrow quiver and arrows, case of Victorian shop display revolvers and whip. The quiver measures 66cm long.
