An interesting 19th century heavy iron strong box, the lid having two sunken panels embossed with Vic crown over “R” (revenue?) over a broad arrow, with central key hole (the sliding cover plate missing), with handle to the lid and a carrying handle each end, 17½” x 11” x 7½” deep. GC, with a replacement key (the lock has been taken out and replaced in order to have the key made). Plate 3
A decorative flask in the style of the late 16th century, 10½” overall, of truncated semi conical shape, the body painted to simulate bone or staghorn decorated with scene of hunter with hound, firing an arrow at a lion, with spirally carved bone nozzle, roped brass beaded edges, and 4 hanging rings. Generally GC (the surface crazed and flaking).
A silver plated ceremonial military trumpet, embellished with panelled spiral bands, the muzzle and central knop embossed with foliate devices, marked with broad arrow and “Mapers & Harrison, Maker, Manchester, England, 1963. A 19th century Indian shield dhal, lightly chiselled on the outer panel with antelope, boar, elephants, oxen, tigers, a huntsman with bow and arrow and a flute player, and in the centre stylized game birds, all within foliage, 4 bosses, turn over rim and scalloped border, leather loops inside, diameter 18½”. Good Condition Plate 70
A rare .73” first model Victoria cavalry carbine, 42” overall, twist barrel 26” with Tower proofs and ordnance inspector’s marks, standing rearsight, break off breech and swivel ramrod; back action lock engraved with crown over “VR/Tower 1838” (the first and possibly only year of production), and with traces of officially removed safety bolt; the heavily varnished walnut fullstock stamped on the left side of the butt with broad arrow over “WD” (post 1855), on the right side “I.C.R” (1st class reserve), and on the underside “J & W Field” (stockmakers), and with saddle bar and ring, the rear end of which screws directly into the stock; brass mounts include combined fore end plate and ramrod pipe, and trigger guard with scroll; every individual part, even the screw heads and the saddle ring, bearing the serial number “17”. A very good .65” East India Government percussion holster pistol, 14” overall, smooth bore barrel 8” with ordnance proof and Birmingham inspector’s marks; lock stamped with crown over broad arrow and “EIG” and “Birmingham 1871”; dark walnut fullstock stamped on the left side “W Tranter” (stockmaker) and with EIG Birmingham storekeeper’s mark; with regulation brass mounts, lanyard ring, and swivel ramrod. In Very Good Working Order and Unissued Condition, the bore bright, barrel with original blued finish, lock with colour hardened finish. Plate 78
A very good William IV .56” Sea Service flintlock belt pistol, 15½” overall, barrel 9” with ordnance proofs; line engraved lock bearing crowned “WR” and lock viewer’s mark; pale walnut fullstock stamped with broad arrow over BO and various stock viewers’ marks; with regulation brass mounts, swivel ramrod, and 5½” steel belt hook on the left side. In Very Good Working Order and Unissued Condition, the barrel retaining original draw filed and grey/blue finish. Plate 79

Two indicator dials; Down and Up, a pegging switch for one indicator (line blocked/clear switch), tapper and chrome plated mushroom bell on the back. Neatly presented in a black painted plywood case. GC, some age wear and one indicator arrow missing.Plate 3

A George I Channel Islands silver trefid spoon, c.1720, maker's mark TC struck once to lower stem (Thomas Cartault, Jersey fl. c.1720-1736), with arrow shoe piece to the ovoid bowl, the handle to bowl joint unusually steeply angled, inscribed 'EB' beneath terminal, 7 3/8in. (18.7cm.) long, weight 1.28 tr.oz.
