1930s London Underground ENAMEL SIGN 'Way Out and to Central London Line, Platforms 1 & 2'. Note the 3-flighted arrow bisecting the bullseye and the early title 'Central London Line' which was renamed the Central Line in 1937. We think this sign may well be from one of the Piccadilly Line platforms at Holborn station and, if so, would likely date from the station's modernisation in 1933. An amazing survivor and a "shed find" by the vendor 60+ years ago. Measures 54.5" x 12" (139cm x 31cm). Has suffered some staining from decades of storage. [1]
Special issue of the 1909 London Underground POCKET MAP 'What to See and How to See it, The Excursionists' Guide with Map'. Opens out to 10.5" x 8.5" (27cm x 22cm). Traces of adhesive at the edges suggest this was tipped into a brochure for the store, otherwise the map is in excellent condition. [1]
