A WWI military surgeon’s instrument chest, 19” x 12½” x 5”, of oak with brass carrying handles and lid escutcheon engraved “Capt Edwin J Bradley R.A.M.C”, containing saw marked with broad arrow and “W.O”, small saw with broad arrow, bow saw with broad arrow and 1915, 2 tooth extractors, tourniquet, stethoscope, and 6 assorted scalpels, 2 with broad arrow, by various makers including Maw, Arnold & Sons, and Rampling of Cambridge. Two framed displays, one of a painting of the Prince of Wales’s feathers on a wooden board (frame 12” x 21”), the other a photocopy of an article relating to the spears and a suggested connection to Frederick Hitch VC. Together with two large Sudanese stabbing spears, the blades 16” x 5”, mounted on bamboo hafts cut off at 33”, also two African throwing spears, one with arrow head blade and the other with leaf blade.
A 22 bore East India Company long flintlock Sea Service pistol, 19½” overall, barrel 12¼” with London and maker’s proofs; fitted with a replacement lock, re engraved with crowned GR and Tower; the walnut fullstock stamped with crown over “1” and crowned broad arrow marks, with EIC pattern brass mounts, possibly original ramrod, and replacement steel belt hook. Right hand cross bar missing piece and missing part of the figure`s left arm. Attractive and rare.Provenance: with a Co. Monaghan family since the 1850s."" 6.5 by 1.25in., 16.25 by 3.125cm.
A BRITISH 1885 PATTERN CAVALRY TROOPER`S SWORD the 87cm slightly curved blade stamped `EFD` [for Enfield, Middlesex] below a flattened arrow-head to one side of the ricasso, both sides additionally stamped, and the back-edge of the blade stamped `[crown] 75E` and ` `90`, with a plain steel guard and a chequered leather grip, in its steel scabbard, overall 101cm long.

Chip to base.
