A 19th Century French paperweight by Baccarat decorated with a single translucent green overlay over an interlaced trefoil pattern, canes mainly made up of arrow head, star dust, star canes and shamrocks, cut with five side printies, one top printie and 12 half flutes to the base, width 8cm.

Rev: (TARAS legend). with Taras, holding bow and arrow, riding right on dolphin, trace of delta I beneath dolphin's tail, no symbol visible. 7.03 grams. Vlasto 732-735 variant; cf. BMC 173; HN Italy 1000 variant. Fine.

Rev: naked horseman galloping left holding palm branch with 'down arrow' and number XVI above and L PISO FRVGI / RA in two lines (RA ligated). below. 3.95 grams. A cut steel chessman seal matrix with round section short shaft and pierced handle with circular loop; the oval face with intaglio heraldic mantled shield arms depicting a nobleman's coronet over three crowned teardrops surmounted by a crest of two embellished wings with drawn bow and arrow between, for the Schützercrantz family of Danzig; with inked collector number to reverse and a note of identification. 19.23 grams, 33.84mm tall (25.66mm face"). (1 1/4 (1)"). From a significant private English collection of seal matrices, formed over the past 35 years. See Adl. 1769, number 1984 and 1913. This seal has been examined and attributed by Lars Largerqvist, a Swedish heraldry expert. Very fine condition. [No Reserve]
