Silver, oval, on the obverse the scene of the Doge receiving the surrender and homage of the brothers Mustafà and Hassan Pascià, with the inscription 'PARCERE SUBIECTIS ET DEBELLARE SUPERBOS / SCIT NOBILIS IRA LEONIS'. On the reverse, the Lion of St Mark, victorious, rampant (left), holding a sword and clutching a dolphin, symbol of the supremacy of the sea, in one paw an arrow and a broken bow. Women's suffrage.- Illuminated printed address signed by Emmeline Pankhurst, presented to Alice Roberts "On behalf of all women who will win freedom by the bondage which you have endured for their sake...We, the Members of the Women's Social and Political Union, herewith express our deep sense of admiration for your courage...in enduring a long period of privation and solitary confinement in prison for the 'Votes for Women' Cause...", single sheet, printed on recto only, calligraphic name of recipient, chromolithographed 'Angel of Freedom' vignette to head, all within purple, green and gilt foliate border incorporating the portcullis and prisoner's arrow motif, some repaired tears and laid down, loss to upper edge, top right corner and lower left corner, a few other shallow chips to extremities, light soiling, tipped onto card mount, sheet c.445 x 304mm., mount 597 x 385mm., [September 1908 & later]. *** Designed by Sylvia Pankhurst to incorporate the purple, green and white colours adopted by the WPSU in June 1908, these illuminated addresses were presented to ex-prisoners who had suffered for the cause. The 'Angel of Freedom' device was incorporated into various WPSU designs, including tea-sets and medallions. From April 1909, the meeting of the International Women's Suffrage Alliance, the addresses were accompanied by a Holloway Brooch (not present).

Provenance: Believed to have been purchased from Wallis & Wallis, Lewes in sale 355, Lot 1721, on 20th March 1991 for £725.00. Condition Report: Holds on both half and full cock, barrel length 114cm.

dating: early 17th Century provenance: Brescia, Lock plate of elongated shape, with tang provided with a button and typical downward cusped shape. Small wheel retained by a simple 'C'-shaped plate (missing parts'). Two sturdy cocks with wide, square jaws. Small engraved and carved elements. The back with complete mechanism (only the spring holding the trigger pawl forward is missing perhaps?), pan cover still able to slide. On the back of the plate a bow and arrow mark with the letters 'L I'. length plate 22,3 cm.

A 1943 WWII GUN SIGHT, A MILITARY PERISCOPE AND A CASED RADIO DEVICE, the periscope has a broad arrow and M.532 Reyloc London, it comes in its original case along with the attachment to mount and hold it, the radio is French and would be used on a military vehicle, it appears to be in good condition but we cannot check to see if it is in working order, the gun sight is number 39 mk11.S and serial number 15967
CARTIER-BRESSON HENRI: (1908-2004) French photographer, a pioneer of street photography. An unusual 6 x 4 postcard inscribed by the photographer, the image being a reproduction of Cartier-Bresson´s photograph entitled Quai des Tuileries (1955), captured from a bridge over the Seine and depicting several people taking a stroll along the quays. Inscribed by the photographer in black ink to an American collector to the verso, and further adding a black ink thumbprint alongside which the photographer has drawn an arrow and added the words ´absolutly (sic) authentic´.
