A Large Bells-en-Vue Musical Box, Playing 20 Airs, Most Probably By B. A. Bremond, serial no. 5744 but marked on tunesheet 5745, with single-spring motor, tune indicator, single-section comb and a rack of six plain saucer tuned bells of summit formation, three with butterfly strikers, two with wasp strikers, and a single plain hammer, coloured flower crowns, on reeded cast gilt bedplate in ebonised interior, with Margaret colour maidens and Birds tunesheet with later gilt bell mounting corners, in plain beech interior, dustlid, in grained case with the figured veneered lid bearing strung inlay and central colour instrument and arrow transfer - 24in. wide, the cylinder 11in. Condition: G-F II 3
Georgian naval officer’s dirk c.1800, curved tapered single edge blade 18” with crowned broad arrow stamp, cut with a single narrow fuller, regulation brass mounts, recurved crosspiece, lion’s head pommel, ribbed wooden grip (chipped along one side). Good condition, covered with old protective varnish. Note: See Naval Swords and Firearms, HMSO, May and Kennard, 1962 Pl. X for identical dirk.
Stone Age and later, a group of knapped flint and obsidian arrow and spear heads and scrapers comprising a fine large pale-coloured flint blade 12”x4.5”; an obsidian barbed spear head 5.5” and similar arrow head and shaped scraper; flint arrow heads from Sutton (Suffolk) and Middleton (Norfolk); a gun flint from Brandon (Suffolk) and another (unidentified); an almost circular flint scraper, and 9 assorted arrow heads including 2 inscribed Utah. Average good condition.
WW1 period Royal Naval deck officer’s stopwatch, nickel silver case with white enamel dial having Arabic numbers and subsidiary dial. Lever starting mechanism to side of case. Admiralty type broad arrow to the reverse and “PATT 3 136825”. Used by deck officers to time torpedo attacks and anti-submarine operations etc. Appears to be in working order.
