A Victorian 1859 Snider Enfield .577 Rifle, the steel barrel stamped P WEBLEY & SON, BIRMINGHAM and numbered 1400, the hinged block stamped with broad arrow, SNIDER PATENT, crowned V, L.A.C. 3, with hinged ladder rear sight, the lock plate stamped with crowned VR 1859 ENFIELD, all metal parts are stamped with what appear to be deactivation marks, walnut three band stock with brass fore-end tip, trigger guard and butt plate, the tang faintly stamped M.G.R.C., the steel ramrod stamped 3, with steel sling swivels and leather sling,137cm, together with correct but associated socket bayonet with Farsi markings and brass mounted leather scabbard. There appear to be deactivation marks on the metal parts, but the gun does not seem to have been deactivated, it could be that the firing pin has been shortened. The action cocks and fires and the bore is good. Minor bruising to the stock.

Action works. Pitting to metalwork. Repair to fore-end. Stock scuffed and bruised.
A Victorian Prison Warder's Hanger, the 55cm single edge fullered steel blade double edged for the last 19cm, the steel stirrup hilt impressed with the rack number 85 on the quillon, with ribbed fishskin grip and steel mounted leather scabbard, the locket stamped with a broad arrow, 69cm. Black patching to blade. Some wear and loss to the fishskin. Rust pitting to the hilt and scabbard mounts.

Action works, holds at full and half cock. Pitting to metalwork. Stock later stained and refinished.
A Victorian Enfield Two Band Percussion Cavalry Carbine, the 53cm steel barrel with faint markings and V rear sight, the lock plate stamped with crowned VR, 1859/ENFIELD and crowned arrow, the walnut full stock with steel barrel bands - one with sling swivel, the right side of the butt with Enfield roundel, with brass fore-end tip, trigger guard and two piece butt plate, with steel saddle bar and swivel ramrod, 92cm. Action works, holds at full and half cock. Grey patching and pitting to metalwork which has been partially cleaned off. Split to right side of butt, with plugged hole for rear sling swivel-missing, and V shape repair. Surface has been sanded down and revarnished
A Second World War Zuckerman Helmet, with grey/blue paint, stencilled H.F.P. in black, the leather and webbing liner held by lacing, the inner brim stamped A.M.C./3/1941; three Folding Pocket Knives, one with Marlin spike, each with chequered black plastic grip scales; two Steel Folding Pocket Knives, stamped with broad arrow/R.B.S./1954 and 1955; a Second World War Machete, with rusted blade and projecting hooked tang, two piece riveted wood grip and crushed leather scabbard; a Kukri, the horn grip with brass bolster and pommel, with leather scabbard (8). 1 - Helmet rust pitted to crown. 2 - Pitting to blades. 3 - Good clean condition. 4 - orange rust pitting to blade and projecting tang 5 - Rust pitting and black patching to blade, leather scabbard shabby and missing the two sharpening knives.
A Victorian Senior Prison Warder's Hanger, the 59.5cm single edge fullered steel blade double edged for the last 20cm, the brass stirrup hilt with scroll quillon, with ribbed fishskin grip, the brass mounted leather scabbard with leather frog stamped with Board of Ordnance marks and broad arrow, 78cm. Some uneveness to the edge of the blade near the hilt, with ground marks and some black patching. Some wear to the fishskin grip. The surface of the leather scabbard is flaking and scuffed, the stitched seam is parting. The chape has small dents.

Grey and orange rust pitting to the hilt and scabbard mounts. 2 - Grey patching, pitting and flaws to the blade, with a bent tip.

Some black patching to blade. Wear to chequering of grip around the spring. Some flaking to the surface of the leather scabbard with a crease towards the locket.

A British 1875 Pattern Artillery Bayonet, the 51 cm saw-back steel blade with various inspector's markings, War Department broad arrow and Sold Out of Service arrows, with chequered black leather grip scales, the pommel stamped 26, lacks scabbard; a French M1866 Chassepot Yataghan Sword Bayonet, with St Etienne steel blade, the steel crossguard and scabbard stamped with corresponding numbers K 93827 (2). 1 - Black pitting to blade. Fine brown pitting to hilt. Lacks scabbard. 2 - Black patching and pitting to blade, with nicks to the edge. The scabbard had orange and grey rust pitting.
A 19th Century Tower Three Band Percussion Musket, converted from a flintlock, with 79.5cm refinished steel barrel, the lock plate stamped TOWER across the tail, with crowned GR and crowned arrow, the walnut full stock with three barrel bands with indistinct markings, brass fore-end tip, trigger guard and butt plate, with two steel sling swivels, leather sling and steel ramrod, 120cm. Action works, holds at full and half cock. Metalwork and stock refinished. Repairs to stock.
A PERCUSSION TWO-BAND ENFIELD TYPE CAVALRY CARBINE with a tapering 22 inch (56cm) rounded twin sighted barrel, plain unmarked steel lock, swivelling ramrod and bar attachment, with brass fittings including trigger-guard and butt-plate, the walnut full-stock stamped with WD arrow devices and 'VR' - '1314' 38' overall 96.5cm long.
* Guercino (Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, 1591-1666). Cupid taking an arrow from his quiver, red chalk with stumping on laid paper, laid down on old canvas, some surface marks and discolouration, and minor loss to outer edges and corners, 247 x 153 mm (6 x 9.7 ins), old gilded carved wood frame, glazed (Qty: 1)NOTESProvenance: Collection of Ann Gore; Private collection, Herefordshire, UK. A large number of drawings by Guercino and his nephews Benedetto and Cesare Gennari at the Casa Gennari, Bologna, and their villa at Bel Poggio, are laid down on canvas (as opposed to card or paper backing), and were framed and displayed in this manner around 1700. There are examples of such drawings in the Royal Library, Windsor Castle with the Gennari provenance. The present work is attributed to Guercino on the basis of the present work's elegance, poise, and subtle use of chiaroscuro. Passerelli Roma' (Qty: 1)NOTESLonsdale Ragg (1866-1945) was an Anglican priest and a published Dante scholar. He was born in Shropshire and educated at Christ Church, Oxford and Cuddesdon Theological College. Ragg held various chaplaincy posts on the continent - in Bologna, Venice, Valescure, Bordighera, Cannes and Rome. At the time this portrait was painted he was serving as chaplain of All Saints' Church in Rome, and he subsequently become Archbishop of Gibraltar (1934-1945).
