COLLINS MICHAEL: (1930- ) American Astronaut, Command Module Pilot of Apollo XI, 1969. T.L.S., M Collins, one page, small 4to, Washington D.C., 18th September 1972, to Thomas Brownell at the University of Michigan, on the printed stationery of the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution. Collins thanks his correspondent for their kind letter and information about the proposed Youth Council which he thinks sounds like an excellent idea and long overdue. The former astronaut adds `I hope and expect that, through the Shuttle and other projects, space technology in the seventies will have a direct and measurable relevance to earthbound problems. Your efforts could go a long way toward marshalling the support among our young which is needed to convert these plans into reality.` About EX

BRANDO MARLON: (1924-2004) American Actor, Academy Award winner. Unusual blue fountain pen ink signature and inscription on a page removed from an autograph album, `To John, I`m sorry I spit on you, Marlon Brando`. Together with an unsigned printed 8vo Playbill theatre programme for A Streetcar Named Desire in which Brando starred. VG, 2. Brando`s signature was obtained by the vendor after a performance of A Streetcar Named Desire at the Ethel Barrymore theatre in New York, April 1948. Brando emerged from the theatre alongside his co-star Karl Malden and, in a playful mood, spat towards his fellow actor. Some of the saliva unfortunately landed on the collector, hence the unusual inscription.
