Jeanne l'Hachette type pack, Darmstadt: Maximilian Frommann, circa 1870, the complete deck of 52 chromolithographed transformation playing cards, comprising 4 suits of 13 (French suits), each with pip cards ace-10, and 3 full-length courts, the designs printed in brown, 8 of diamonds with initals M F, scarce pale spots, 8 of spades with pale brown mark to lower right side, 7 of diamonds lower left corner lightly finger-soiled, versos blue dotted hexagons, each card 90 x 65 mm, all cards corner mounted onto 2 display boards (one board double-size and folding), the smaller board encapsulated in clear plastic (none examined out of boards), the boards (larger one folded) 54.5 x 40 cmQTY: (1)NOTE:Cary collection 480, 481 & 483; Field 35; Fournier, Germanic 108-9 (for later Frommann & Bunte editions); Mann (Collecting Playing Cards) pp.168-170; Ortiz-Patiño catalogue 73; WCMPC Collection Acquisition No. 260.Most of the courts and several of the transformations are copied from the Grimaud Jeanne l'Hachette transformation pack, with another 19 transformations taken from the Braun & Schneider pack.
