A set of four Regency specimen wood and ebonised quartetto tables, attributed to Gillows of Lancaster, each with a moulded rectangular top on baluster supports, joined by a conforming stretcher, the largest with burr walnut top crossbanded in rosewood, the second with rosewood top crossbanded in amboyna, the third with a satinwood top crossbanded in amboyna and the smallest with a chessboard top crossbanded in maple, eight stretchers replaced, the largest 58cm wide x 74cm high x 40cm deep A set of quartetto tables of this type are at Leighton Hall, Lancashire and are likely to have been supplied by Gillows, c. 1810 (see R Edwards and M Jourdain, Georgian Cabinet-Makers, rev. ed., London, 1955, p.221, fig. 193)
