Five pieces Coalport all hand painted with fallen fruit, signed M. Harnett, M. Pinter, and M. Looke, to include an octagonal vase, lidded vase, pair of candlesticks and a bell, (6) the lidded vase measures 31cm high Condition report: The finial of the lidded vase has been cleanly restuck. Both candlesticks have hairlines to the base and to the rims, There are no other damages or restorations. There is a minor nick to the foot of the octagonal vase.
A pair of late 17th/early 18th Century patens of plain circular form with a moulded rim, inscribed St Paul’s Exon, 1758 raised on a spreading pedestal base, 19.5cm. diameter, maker ID possibly John Dagge, struck three times, total weight of silver, 23.15ozs.A similar ID maker’s mark is illustrated in KENT (Timothy) West Country Silver Spoons and Their Makers 1550-1750, page 82, illustration M.36. and page 47, Fig 73.John Dagge (Circa 1660-1740) Was in business in Torrington by 1687 as he was paid £3 for making a new pocket mace. He also supplied church plate to the parishes of Merton and West Putford. He was Mayor of Torrington six times and died on 17th May 1740, during his sixth term of office.
