Peek M. P. to Charles E. Pollock Esq Q. C. in remembrance of Wimbledon Common Associations 1871. 6 1/2 in. (16.5cm). Maker Richard Sibley. Follower of Cristofano Allori Judith oil on canvas, in an elaborate carved and gilt wood frame 127 by 104 cm.; 50 by 41 in. A 17th century copy after Allori's original design of which there exist numerous autograph versions, the prime versions being in the Royal Collection, Hampton Court, and the Pitti Palace, Florence (see M. Chappell, Cristofano Allori, exhibition catalogue, 1984, pp. 78-81, cat. no. 25).
A scarce Indian steel Zafar Takieh (Salapa), with Koftgari decoration, the 'M' shaped handle with silver coloured metal ram's head terminals and Bengal tiger motif, the octagonal screw-tight scabbard encasing a 21.5cm stiletto, 54.5cm long overall. Zafar Takieh translates as 'cushion of victory', carried by Indian Princes when seated on the Masnad 'cushion' throne.
