A rare William III tubular sealing wax case, with a screw cover and a seal terminal with a coat of arms intaglio* the cover inscribed "M. F given her by E.F 1761", maker's mark only, by David Tanquery, c. 1700, 3.75in (9.5cm) long, 2.25oz. Arms of Finch probably for Heneage Finch, 1st Earl of Aylesford (d. June 1719). He had several children - eldest son also Heneage (d. June 1757), eldest daughter Elizabeth. This Heneage had four children - eldest son also Heneage, eldest daughter Mary. With reference to the inscription on this sealing wax case, it seems entirely likely that Elizabeth gave it to her niece Mary.
