Chassis fittings include twin inside cylinders with valves controlled through Stephenson's gears, connecting and coupling rods, whistle, brass cab-lamp, oak buffers and beam blocks. Tender with detailed rivet work and fitted hand brake. Finished in green and black livery with simulated wooden cladding to boiler and cab floor, polished brass and brightwork. Length 92cm. WW2 RESISTANCE & SOE: RAF Escaping Society cover signed by TEN veterans of the Resistance and SOE. There are some VERY rare signatures on this cover. Signatures include Lucian Dumais a Canadian soldier taken prisoner at Dieppe and after escaping was recruited by M. I 9 and helped in the setting up and running of the Shelburne network. Jacqueline Nearn who, after being recruited by F Section of SOE become only the second woman to undergo parachute training at Ringway and on 25 January 1943, she was parachuted into France to work for the vast Stationer circuit in central France. Despite the risks of being exposed or betrayed she travelled by train. She maintained contact with the neighbouring 'Headmaster' network and other SOE networks in the Paris area. She carried spare parts for radios inside a cosmetics bag. After fifteen months in the field, she finally returned to Britain in April 1944 by means of Westland Lysander. Also signed by Jacques Cheban-Dalmas, a member of the French Resistance who would later become Prime Minister of France 1969-72, Mary Lindell aka Comtesse de Milleville, legendary Resistance worker whose amazing wartime exploits are written on the insert of this cover. At one stage she actually helped Cockleshell Hero Bill Sparks escape from occupied Europe! Another signature on this cover is that of Maurice Buckmaster, head of the French Section of SOE as well as Yvonne Cormeau, C. A Watney, codenamed Eustache a member of the SOE team on the Wheelwright circuit in team Maxime, Pat Cheramy of the O'Leary line, Ray LaBrosse who helped Lucian Dumais run the Operation Bonaparte section of the Shelburne line and Gilbert Renault August 6, 1904 July 29, 1984 was known during the French Resistance under the name Colonel Rémy. He is one of the most famous secret agents of occupied France during World War II, and was known under various pseudonyms such as Raymond, Jean-Luc, Morin, Watteau, Roulier, Beauce and Rémy. AN ANTIQUE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN SMOOTH BORE MILITARY ISSUE MUSKET CONVERTED FROM FLINT TO PERCUSSION, the model 1828 Russian musket was based upon the French pattern 1822 musket, as well as the early Russian M-1808 musket, it was initially made as a flintlock, smoothbore musket of 13 bore with a 41 1/4'' long barrel and an overall length of 57'', in 1841, with the adoption of the percussion cap, the Russian began the process of converting their flintlock musket to percussion, the model 1828/44 is their percussion conversion of the model 1828 musket, based upon 1844 specifications, its lock bears the Cyrillic script Tula 1838 as indeed is the brass barrel band, (Tula was the principal Russian arsenal and date 1838 indicates when the lock was originally made there), in comes complete with its ramrod and socket bayonet, the butt plate is also struck with double-headed eagle that served as the crest of Czar Nicholas I, the stock is in good condition and the barrel has a lightly pitted surface, these muskets used in the Crimean War are scare and seldom encountered
